House - it's okay. Go wash the grinding shmutz out of your eyes, lay down on your creeper and just listen to the drone of the welder hum...time for some sleep. Did I tell you about my jammies?

You're not a dumbshit, Doc. Relax...The link is around here somewhere (I must've left it in my other pants - can't find it now). Or just do a search for "Help support the Bonneville dream" and it'll take you there!
And hey Doc - thanks for your support, man!

(Jeez, can you believe that guy?! What a dumb shit!)

    (Just nerfin' ya, Doc)

Ha! Thanks Unc. But just be careful over there in the Motherland - they may not appreciate hearing about the Proper Application
of a Morris from a yank...better stick to "those who care to listen", I guess...
It's weird to think of that shirt being worn over there..but fun! I've always wanted to go (and run at Santa Pod!). Maybe some day. Until then, have my share of the fun.....

Nate, you da man! DA MAN, JACKSON!!! Thanks for doing the heavy lifting with the pix - again!

Okay - everyone got their popcorn? Okay then, kick back and enjoy the show (please turn off all cell phones and other electronic devices that might impair others' enjoyment of the show)...

    1. The drive out to Dr. Lockjaws (30 miles of this and it's all way more beautiful than this pic shows).

    2. The "Custom Metal" shop.

    3. One of Docs personal projects (very long-term!) - a total funmobile!

    4. The Wall of Bling (it's nothing compared to The Cieling of Raining Speed Parts, but I couldn't get clearance to shoot that).

    5. Getting close to finishing this Willys street/strip chassis for a customer.

    6. While I was there, we mounted the ('glass) body to the frame - it actually fit!

    7. The recently certified chassis for the restored Ernie Nicholson "Super Stude" gasser. I posted a whole thread on here (last year, I think) about us discovering this thing - now it's almost ready for paint...

    8. Lil Zilla on the rack, ready for action (the action finally started, two days later).

    9. Meanwhile, sparks were flyin' at "Peckham Precision Engine", in Grants Pass. Here's my block, trembling in anticipation, under the decking blade!

    10. Old pal Jerry Peckham hisself, decking like the wind!

    11. The secret ingredient: The BHJ alignment fixture fits in the crank and cam journals, to show us where the deck should be ('cause "it's hip to be square"). Fixture: $3,000 Peace of mind: Priceless

    12. Ta-da!!! Ooh la la...Just like me. the block cleans up well, with a close shave. Now, on to the boring bar!!! Gangway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay - I juiced-up that last one, just to add some interest. But you get the picture - things are happening. Will be snapping more pix at Custom Metal this week. Unfortunately, I'm starting to panic about money now - to the point that CC is coming down here (300 miles) this weekend for an emergency meeting (Camp David was unavailable). Meanwhile, I'm still working on this project, every available minute - but I'm worried...

Uh huh. I figured the competition was spying on me in here. I see from the photo that you're so scared of the Son of Godzilla that you've peed all over your shiny new shirt. Real nice...

For those who don't know, 2 Bridges here is Rockys kid (AKA Bullwinkle). Actually a great guy, despite stealing my brother to act as his crewchief! You have a lot of nerve coming on here with your shiny RED porch, 2 Bridges. Good luck to you, my friend. That goes for your little car Freckles, too.........

Hey Rick - I don't know what it is either, but it's kept me grinnin' and gigglin' for over 22 years now. I like to think that it's because it was built in the true spirit of hot rodding - but that's a pretty pretentious thing to type out loud...
All I know is it's a total kick in the ass!

Yesterday Dr. Lockjaw took the day off to go pick up a really nice blower set-up from a racer pal in California (where the streets are paved with gold!). But today, he's back on Lil Zilla. I had to take today off for domestic reasons (plus a friend got hit on his motorcycle and is in the hospital), but I did get in 2 hours of shop time here, cleaning up parts...The cam Isky was overnighting (last week) to us STILL hasn't shown up, so engine work is at a standstill. .....sigh.....CC and I decided it's too early to throw in the towel yet, so we'll keep on thrashin'. It'll turn out however it's meant to, but I gotta make sure I'm doing my part (the legwork).
    More to come...

    thanks for the update.
Looks like a nice drive down the 238.
The wagon makes for a sweet push car. You are driving "S.of G." to bonneville right? Wish I could reschedule my vacation, but it's Speedweek then off to the HAMB Drags.
Maybe you'll take it to the Drags next year.
    take care, Gary
P.S. I still got to get me one of them shirts. I missed you at the Gasser Nats.(nobody at the pits when I stopped by) and I bailed on the Cruise had to do Pottsville instead. I prefer 'ol timey tractors over streetroddy stuff.:D

And I hope your friend on the bike is doing O.K. Sometimes I miss the really important stuff. I Get sidetracked by shiny cars, beer ...

Cornboy - I hope to have SoG at the HAMB drags next year (along with the 7-11 coupe). It's not too late to get a SoG t-shirt (gotta spam it up, you know)!

To everyone: my pal was hit by a truck (hit & run) and knocked over a cliff. Was in danger of losing one leg, but after a 6 hour surgery, thay say it might work now. Other injuries were minor. So all you bikers out there: have fun, but watch your asses!!! This guy has a heart of gold and deserved better...

Keep thrashin janglehead! When you drive in at Bonneville you will oficially be my hero.

Hey thanks Jerm! At this point, it's hard tellin' if I'll be a hero or zero - could go either way. Spent the last couple days at Dr. Lockjaws Fabrication Emporium (ie: a place where lies are told), thrashin' like the wind. Whipped up mounts for the new fuel tank, welded the tank together, welded bungs in, etc. It's done, except for the plumbing. Then we jumped on the anti-roll bar: no place to mount it now, with the new tank soaking up all available space, so had to get creative. After hours of headscratching while standing in a pile of templates ankle deep, Doc hit the jackpot. We ran out of time and now the whole mess is sitting on my workbench - I'll get back to it on Thursday (my next day off). Meanwhile, finally got ahold of Isky and they say the cam is finally on its way - should be here today (for the record, I've worked in situations like that and understand how mistakes can happen amid chaos. Yes, I'm frustrated as hell, but it's out of my hands - I just hope the payoff is a great cam with good service after the fact, 'cause I'm starting to feel like they "owe me"). Anyway, hope to have pix posted of all this action, soon.

My biker pal had to have another surgery yesterday, but is stable and should walk again. Thanks to all who cared.

And jerm - thanks again for the sales pitch on the shirts! That oughta push sales up a point or two...

PS: 90% of the above work was done by the Doctor, so it's actually nicely done! Too bad it doesn't blend in better with the surrounding shoddy worksmanship...oh well, can't have everything.

Quickie update today: Spent the day on the anti-roll bar - finished mounting brackets, etc, and got all the materials needed for the links. And this just in: the cam arrived about an hour ago! I guess Isky changed their minds about sponsorship, as they billed me "full retail". At this point, I'm just glad it's here. Tomorrow, we mock up a cylinder with valvetrain and finish up at the machine shop. Whew! More later,
    Scotty

    Scotty,

Making it this far automatically puts you in the 'Hero' category. You have been a inspiration to this entire board. NOW if you don't make it we will all just trample up to your house and have a small chat with ya...:D

    Now go get em' tiger!!!

    p.s. Send more pictures!

Nate - Thanks for the pep talk, coach. I'll try my best not to let you guys down...

I sent you some pix of the fuel tank thrash and will soon have a pictorial on the down home do-it-yourself anti-roll bar.

Thanks again to all who are behind this insanity...

Heading back out to Dr. Lockjaws Speed Factory today to weld in the anti-roll bar mounts, so I can measure for arm and link length, then come home and fab those (I have all the required parts sitting here). Hope to do final assembly on Sunday - we'll see what life throws my way...

  26. Keep at er there man. I am back on the net at home finally and will stay up on this

Okay, I'm back. Got it all done today. Just ran out of time before I could clean up and paint everything. Brought some parts home with me and will paint the rest on Tuesday, when I head back out there to get the car. Will hook up the tow bar again and tow Lil Zilla home, or to another buddys place for wiring - old pal Dan the Wire Guy has agreed to help out (wiring is my kryptonite), but is swamped right now, so I might be on my own. I'll know more, after talking with him tomorrow.
Time now to kick back and enjoy some rare quality HAMB time. Ahhh...........
