Rikster, do you know when the Doss car was first done?

Late 50's according to the R&C Watson article. My guess is the car was nearly new when Watson went to work on it most likely in late 1958. The second paint job (with the faded panels) was in on the cover of the June 1960 Custom Cars Magazine and in the the 1961 Custom Cars Annual.

That's what I was thinking, and it's close enough. I figured it was 58-60. I like that car (obviously) and came really close to using those Pontiac taillights. The Bellflowers with the lakes doesn't really do it for me, but the fade panels are wild !

Buzz- A feature on that blue car appeared in R&C, Dec '02 . Belongs to Gary Wakehouse of Council Bluffs, IA. I don't have any more pics of it on the hard drive, you're going to have to paw through your library..

    That Doss car is teats!

I'll try to take some interior shots this weekend. I need some different pics of the car, anyhow.

Can a four door look good? Sure. I've always had a thing for four door hardtops. Would I like it better if it was a 2 door? Heck Yeah. Would my wife like it better if it was a 2 door? Probably not. She doesn't care what the naysayers and critics think. She just drives it and enjoys it. Hopefully, ya'll end up with a car that your wife feels the same way about.

Don't get too bound by the 2 door/ 4 door thing. If she likes it, build it. The '58 lends itself to simple enhancements because the lines of the car are already there. Just a few tweaks here and there to make it a little nicer.

My dad's '58 Nomad we bought in '76. It had been parked since
'64 with 45k miles on it, when we bought it. 283-Power-Pack, 4bbl, dual exhaust. 24 miles per gallon. Killer thing is, he put a crate motor in last year, and I got the 283 for my pickup................
And his '58 DelRay. Big 350 (383cu in.) crate motor, hot 400 Turbo, runs 13's..............

shortbus: that car is so dreamy.

buzzard: I am really diggin your car. I would like a 4 door my self for family cruisin. I would paint it a metal flake color with some sor tof cool striping and just drop in a 327, dress it up with some Cal Custom parts and be done with it.

Wife's car.:) And that's the thing about '58's. They're almost too easy. The grille is the only thing that I think really needs to change. The stock grilles are really plain and boring. But even the stock taillights are pretty cool. Shave, lower, and change the grille is all they need. Fancy paint is just a plus.

OMG...I've lost sleep over this car as a kid and one of the reason why i feel forthem so hard... I've always wanted to clone that car and have been gathering the right pieces over the years to do so right down to those old school truespokes w/the og premium sportways 5:20's...Now all i need is a body..Anybody have one??...lolol

And a Larry Watson painted 58 Pontiac.

That's enough hi-jacking of the thread for me. Now back to scheduled pictures...
