I'm considering buying this set-up guys but have heard a few mixed reviews. For the price I really want to know what I'm getting. Anybody have an first hand knowledge about this product? Thanks, Dirty
I have run at least a hundred Barry Grant carbs and have never had one problem......You need to take the time and give them all of your motor spec's and TDC.....and they will set it up so it bolts on and runs perfect!.... I have one on my Trophy Truck and if it holds up to that thing? It will hold up to anything!...... see video>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXmkStBjxDQ this is just my opinion from experence using alot of "****" carbs over the years!
are you guys talking about the tripower type setup? wish i had that kind of money! I would like to hear how it performs. i mean it looks cool and all but if it doesnt back it up with the power than that would just ****.
I'll be throwing this on the 454 I plan on putting in my 57 truck. I've read a few articles online about it and it seems to do the job very well on various applications.
bought a new demon carb, it leaked coming out of the box and it didn't have any vac***. took it to a carb shop and they said it was junk. ole barry wouldn't give a refund either
They're called Demon because dealing with customer service is like dealing with the devil. I didn't heed the warnings, bought a speed demon, and was very happy....until I had to spend 2 1/2 weeks dealing with the simplest customer service request about buying a replacement fitting. Now it sits on the shelf and I'll never buy another
I have used scads of them (demons) and only ever had 1 problem- a chipped sightgl*** that leaked fuel. They're *****in. The only carb I will reccomend anymore...
my buddy put the barry grant deal on his 56 conv. has nothing but trouble wrong parts, stripped theads, the list goes on and poor cust service i think they sold that part off
I put a 625 on my small block chevy and it also had a vacuum leak. I call customer servise and they had me change the manifold jacket to a four hole gasket to match the manifold. It has run excellent ever since. I would buy another one. The performance is much better than the 600 Eldebrock that I took off of it.
We've had excellent results with them. We've built a number of cars that we've run with them over the past number of years on the Power Tour. You can get excellent part throttle drivability and fuel economy, as well as top end performance!
First Demon I put on a car, I was amazed. Super easy to tune, very ***y looking, and ran like a champ. Second one had stripped threads, machining material through the whole carb, just a mess. Could have choked customer service through the phone. Never again. Never had a problem with an original Holley... Anyway, ya, the 6 shooter is nice for street rod billet type cars, but I don't like how modern looking it is for a more traditional 'Hotrod' since it is all polished, smooth casting, and expecially how little spacing between carbs. Ya kinda lose the 3 deuce look since it appears like 1 whole unit aesthetically to me...
bigdreamsnobux, We apologize for the issues you had. If you still have the carburetor we'll gladly work with you to rectify the issues. We offer the Six-Shooter systems in our "Old School" version for a more traditional look as well.
And a friend of mine has BG sixpackshooter on his 46 rag....SBC...... the thing is a wicked set up.....no issues.
I have one ( small block Ford) but haven't got the rod running yet. It looks like a very nice set-up and well thought out, I hope she runs as good as she looks!
I bought a carb for my ZZ4 and it kept flooding, I finally had to tear my new carb down only to find it was full of metal shavings. I cleaned and re***embled it and it was fine after that. I do not feel anyone should have to work on a expensive new carb except to fine tune it, so I called Barry Grants help line just to give them a heads up of my problem and all they kept saying was to change my engine timing, no mater what I said it was change my timing. I dont think I will ever buy a carb from them again but if you do dont expect any support or knowledge from Barry Grants tech line.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I purchased a 625 Road Demon VR for my flatty blower motor. Got it out of the box and noticed that the throttle plates would open fully as the base gasket was in the way...............hanging out. Called the tech support line and they gave me a RTA number........sent it back and got it back within a reasonable amount of time. Hopefully it will work when the motor fires.
