I didn't even know about this show, I don't have cable and just by dumb luck I caught it from midnight to 1am at my girlfriend's house.

It was pretty good. I didn't know alot about Jimmy Shine but he seems like a real good guy. The drama with the nails was bull, there's got to be SOME girls out there they could have found that knew what they were talking about. It was pretty lame that he he had to show these people how to put an instrument cluster together.

Very cool to see a hamber on there. The gangbanger guy seemed to know his shit too.

Is this show going to be on the internet too after it's on the air? My girlfriend already said I was more interested in the show than her last night. But she watched it with me, she's alright.

  2. I watched it...some nice stuff lurking in the background....

    Littleman rocks, good for him.

    Thank the lord for Tivo....

I watched it, while the show had its goofy, reality TV moments, like those of American Hot Rod and Orange Clowny Choppers, I stayed with it. Knowing that guys who I have met and have alot of respect for (Shine and Littleman) made it all the better in my book. -Joe

Sorry, I haven't gotten to know all the members yet. :D I hope you are the blond and if so, as noted, by all means please stick around and contribute. Everyone can benefit from another opinion. (And I don't mean just this topic)

If you are the blond, your pop sounded like a cool guy and we always love hearing about how those who did things before today done things.

I'll bet you have some pictures based upon what I saw on the show that we all would love to see.

    As to another point......

    54BOMB

I saw one not long ago. I love that the owners of those one off in many cases let Alain flog them on the streets. Sure it is controlled but yet he is driving them at least fairly hard. Even if I'm not into the particular cars he is showcasing I still watch.

I personally think its a good show I like the way Jimmy comes off He worked his ass off for Pete to get where he is !! I think it is a once in a lifetime chance especially to work at SOCAL I don't think it's all drama B.S. but more so Jimmy is trying to get them to his level of quality and showing them it takes desire, heart , and pure hard sweat to make it in that level of shop NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS !!! I Like most would give my left nut for a chance like that to learn from a builder like Jimmy I truly respect the MAN!!!!!!

  10. I saw the first 15 min of the show. The best part of the show in my opinion was the 5- window. ([IMG]) I saw it in person at the so-cal open house. Those were 15 min of my life I wish I can have back.

It was decent, but totally made up drama, for ratings no doubt. It was worth a watch though, made me wonder what was so special about that paint on that 32 that made it a "$30,000" paint job?!

Looked like standard metal flake gold to me.

I gotta ask in the most friendly :) :) :) way- You can drive 20-plus hours (each way!) to look at hot rods in California- but 15 minutes on your own couch is too much?
I drove to Texas TWICE this year and it's no short haul- but I'll do it again as long as the keep having the Round Up! ;)

It was like all the other drama build shows.. I couldn't get into it....He is a great builder, not much of an actor... Jason.

I can't believe they didn't cut the part where Jimmy said they made a bracket too nice. That level of car shouldn't have any cut corners!Looking under a dash and seeing parts as nice as nice as the immediate focal parts is what makes a car.

For 85 bucks and hour shop rate you would have thought they would have fit the radiator and garnish mouldings BEFORE they painted that thing. I was really surprised at the amount of stuff they were doing to it after the fact. Not the way I was taught...but oh'well thats why I work at a landfill and they work at SOCAL

  18. Yeah.....a little disappointing. Guess I was expecting more building and less drama. This seems like a more mellow version of American Chopper. Subject matter is a lot cooler though. He's a great builder, but seems a little too cocky to me. I had the same question about the paint job. My wife, who's not much of a car person, walks into the living room and says "Doesn't seem like a $30k paint job to me, maybe $5K or $6K."

  19. Hey Sass,
I hope you're the blond, cause the other girl seemed to not want to be there. WTF! Such an oppertunity, wasted. Hope you stay on the HAMB. Chick builders are cool. Here's a picture of Ashleys car,she and her dad built. She's just a kid too.

PS-Littleman...you kick ass! Glad you responded to this thread. Nice meeting you at the LARS also. But you forgot to sign my HAMB banner!

As soon as they said that I knew it would shake people up-RIGHTLY SO! and a couple years ago it would have put me flat on the floor too!- but becoming more familiar with what a professional paint job costs in California that's really the going rate. I've seen pretty regularly "driver quality" paint jobs go for $15-20K out here. I've also seen that coupe in person and wrote the upcoming feature on it for R&C- and it's wayyyy beyond "driver quality". All the body lines were sharpened and lined up better than ANY other Hot Rod any of us have ever seen.
Not sure what 3WLarry paid to have his Coupe painted, but out here something as nice as his would cost the same amount as well.
All the more reason to tighten up your skills at home and go pro when you got the chops! It's an art and the guys that do it well get paid good money for it.

Maybe he's just telling them that so they really watch what they do so they respect all rides the same from a six figure duece to a six grand daily driver?? JUST A THOUGHT

  22. BTW,Patina'd Pete,
I posted a thread about four months ago, about that glass,'37 Ford, with the "fake" patina, for sale on e-bay. 9000 hits in two days, and I don't remember how many posts it got,but it was way over 200,by the time Ryan pulled it. Seemed to be a hot topic.

I thought it was ok, if it don't slip into a soap opera like A.Hotrod& A.Chopper.They were ok the first few shows. We would love a show that was all building, but it would bore the average viewer to death, and there's alot more of them than us.Like everything else in the world it's all about the $$$.

  28. HEy Sarah, I though you did fine on the show. It has to be pretty stressful wit all those cameras and ppl recording anything you say or do or even fuck up. I take the other chicks place hahaha, Ill even dress like a chick to get the spot hahah, but I wont be wearing any of those highly-Flamible sweaters she was wearing hahahaaha Don't give up it's hard being a chick in a mostly guys world :) I dig your background as well :)

Wasnt this the same outfit that got all riled up about the "SO-WHAT" T-Shirts?

One year the masses are mad at them for "crushing" their individuality and fast forward now, you are drooling on their footsteps.

This is from the same crowd that in 1959 would have oohed and awed over the latest smallblock from GM in a 32 Ford, but now spews forth the "I hate smallblocks" rhetoric.

  30. Yes it is a long haul from Texas to California, but well worth it. Im not much of a T.V viewer Im more of a reader. I was hanging out with some fellow hotrodders last week, and all they were talking about is this new show on TLC called hard shine. So I watched, but Dont think I will watch again.15 min on my couch looking at this show was too much. I would rather spend that time working on my car or reading.
