Anyone get the new offer to renew for 2 years for $15? With the sale of the mag, I'm almost scared to renew, but at that price I don't want to p*** it up. The mag is really good right now, if they don't screw with it. DF, I'd really like your input?? Are you staying??

I think the future of the flagship mag is stable- the mag has been sold a few times in the past and will keep on going for the foreseeable future.

Thanks JimA, the mix has been pretty premium lately. Old and new stuff,I can even take a little rice every once in a while. They are carnuts, just a differant breed. With the internet I'm sure it's tough for a mag to keep coming up with articles that are still newsworthy until it gets printed.

I got the same deal as Goztrider, I think it may have been $9 even instead of $9.94. Either way it was cheaper than a postage stamp for each issue. I don't know how they can do that but I don't care either, well worth a quarter an issue. Hot Rod has been getting better lately, I think.

I renewed for three years. Been there since '59 and have bought back issues back into the early 50's. Can't see it going away. It is a decent magazine. They have been coming down to Maxton for three years now. I'm staying!

Just signed up. With my current subscription I'll be getting Hot Rod until June of 2011 for about a quarter an issue. I don't care how bad it gets between now and then I couldn't buy paper to line the bird cage for that amount. :D By then it'll probably be just ricers and '69 Camaro's:eek: :)

OK, it's now absolutely official, David Frieburger has left the building. I just read it in the new Hot Rod and they haven't lied since the '67 red SS Camaro, right? He will be missed. With his talent and interest in cars we haven't heard the last of him. Good luck DF with your online deal.

Squirrel, actually I knew it a few months ago, but now it's in print. I think the magazine made BIG improvements while he was there.

I agree....although I read it in print on the Hot Rod forum a few months ago, so I figured that was pretty official. And then they started the carjunkietv site on halloween....

Hmmmm! I never cared for Freiburger so I let my subscription lapse over a year ago and I am still pissed that Jeff Smith was eased out of the seat at Chevy Hi Perf. What a great mag that was under him.

It is a business after all..I suppose their bean counters figured they make enough from adverti*****ts and non-subscription sales to offer it up so cheap. For that price, how can you lose? Think..a steady supply of potty reading...

  19. Actually the idea behind cheap subscriptions is to raise the paid readers number in their circulation figures to increase the ad revenues!

It will be interesting to see how SI treats things now that they own it.

Hell, you cant beat that price even though I never liked hot rod as much as a custom mag. I can deal with the bad at that price so thanks for the link.

I got the $15.00 deal with the clock,...... took a while to get the clock,.. its kind'a-sort'a (if you squint) cool, but don't get your hope's up, the Magazine however is better than it has been in a number of years !.... I think in the world of $5.99 and $6.99 cover prices on the magazine rack and pretty pricey subscription rates,..... it's one heck of a deal !
