A special congrats to Tracy Turner ( 29 Sedanman) for winning the Rod and Custom Top Tin award at Goodguys!!

Ata boy Tracy!!! We have the concrete giys out here today wide-ing our shop doors to get your big head thru the door.:) :) :D

Even further congrads to Rod and Custom for picking one of the cleanest driven ( non trailered) traditional hot rods around.

Has to be an honor to be picked out of the 6000 plus cars , including the easter egg painted trailer queens shown by the gold chain group!!!

Columbus was a real nice show, good swap meet and nice locations.

    Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

I was probably the most shocked person on the grounds this weekend.

I will try to tell you all about it tonight when I have more time. The award was just a small portion of the weekend.

Check back in for all the details.

First of all I want to think every one for the kind words.

Quite a few have asked exactly what happened this weekend. I had to ask myself the same thing a few times this weekend, "what just happened?"

I had just canceled plans of visiting family in Illinois and was trying to decide what to do with my day off when I decided to go to columbus. I found a room and headed out by myself. I have enough friends from Ohio, the people going from Indy, and the other HAMBers it wasn't like I was going to be alone.

I rolled in around 10 am and just idled around the grounds looking for any one I knew to park with. I found a friends suburban and decided to park across from them. Once I parked and before I could get out a golf cart full of guys with cameras were there snapping photos and asking allot of questions. I had no idea who they were, when one introduced himself as Kevin Lee from R&C. I was floored. He seemed to like the car and the fact that it had over 10,000 miles on it in just over a year. With that he told me he would like to give me a top tin award for the weekend.

With this news I could not stop grinning, but it gets better!

As I am leaving I am stopped once again by Kevin Lee asking what I am doing that evening. I told him I was meeting a group of friends for dinner. He says if you can cancel them I would like to do a photo shoot with your car. I had to think about it for a second, dinner with friends or a magazine spread. I decided on the magazine spread, even though Barbe que was involved. My friends were nice enough to buy me dinner at the same BBQ place the next night even though I had to listen to all the "his head is too big jokes".

The photo shoot was cool. Way more involved than I had imagined. I have a bunch of paper work to fill out with all the info about the car.

I have o idea when it will come out.

The award was very cool and I was honored. Just like at Indy when I won the suede and chrome pick I felt a little funny with my hunk parked a****st the high dollar rides worth more than my house. By the time they handed me my award I had had enough. They handed it through the window, I sat it in the seat and never stopped moving again until I needed gas in springfield Ohio.

It feels a little odd to be picked for an award because I walk around all weekend and see allot of cars better than mine and those folks have worked just as hard. I have always said I would rather be lucky than good and it seemed to pay off again this weekend.

Thanks again, and dont worry, my head is no bigger than it was on the ride over there.

Well Said Tracy, you are one cool dude with a *****in car and a lovely wife. And Modest too, you deserve the awards and it is nice to see the humility also.
