O.K., not as cool as finding a 32 Ford Hot Rod or an old custom, but for this neck of the woods I'm pretty stoked. Been parked for over a decade. Very, very little rust for this area. I didn't get a picture but even the inner fenders are rust free. The rear quarter was hit at some point and the repair is sub par. I'm going to take some MMO over tomorrow and pour into the cyclinders. Go back Monday and see if it will turn over. Original slant 6. Look how solid these floorpans are. Still riding on (likely flat spotted) near bias plys. (with some air in them)
Cool find. I love the early (63-66) valiants and barracudas. I have a 66 valiant with a ton of mods, that is 85% finished. What are your plans with the car?
I don't know yet. I'm going to see if it will turn over first to see what I want to offer him. My daughter needs a car. I don't know if she will go for it or not but I have twin sons which will need a car by the end of the year. Be a good first car for them.
I bought a 64 4 door at a estate sale about 10 years ago for 80$ engine was stuck but got it unstuck and running . I drove it for a bit then traded it off, that guy resprayed it and sold it for 1200$
Nice find! I want to inject that either the grill is not the original or the Valiant is not a 64. I don't think I've ever seen a Valiant with floorboards in person.
Thanks. I questioned that also. 65 maybe? He says he has the ***le but either way I don't really care.
Do I see a mini Super Stock car in the makings? How about a little A/FX g***er altered wheelbase kinda thing? Oh the possibilities...
just for kicks here's a few cool pics(white one is mine). Have fun with your project, what ever you do with it.
Slayer..... What are you running in yours? 55 Dude... It was simply in the local Bulletin Board. 5 minutes from my home. Who knew?
Mine has a 360 with a 833 four speed from a 71 challenger. The cool thing about the early a body is the k frame is the same for slant six or small block. All you nead is different motor mounts.
I L- O- V- E them too ... I own one .. I'm thinking g***er (I know been done, but not a Valiant?) Brandon will jump in .. He llikes the little A bodies too Here is my fine little unit.. Hillside hemi , runs ..etc
theres a guy near me who had a valiant like that but it was a early funny car!! was fiberglas, modified wheel base & a slightly chopped top!! It also had plexi gl*** windows & they where literaly screwed to the outside of the car!! He was selling it, i'll find out if its still available. jimV
More pics are always nice. Did you have to fabricate throttle linkage or is there something else that will work?
I spotted this sitting on the back of a used car lot...stickers in window expired in 1982, so it's been hiding in a garage or barn somewhere for 25 years:
Quite a few years ago my Dad and I took a friends '64 Valiant Convertible in a parade -- hauled people up on the back seat. Anyways, I always loved that car. It was the slant 6 with a 4-barrel and a 4-speed! For some reason I'm thinking it was a factory set-up -- way cool! Seems like those slant 6ers can take some abuse - they did a build up in Hot Rod a few years ago. I'd say jump on it if you can get a good deal - especially being as solid as it is. Wouldn't be hard to re-sell if your daughter (or you) doesn't want it. Good luck! Malcolm
Way back when about 25 years ago i put a 400 and an automatic out of a police car in a 66 dart.I had it all done except the starter wouldn't clear the k-member so i gave up.If i was doing it today i would've notched the k-member and boxed it.
Well........... Went to my buddy's garage this morning to see if I could pull the car down there until I got it running. He said I could. I'm on my way to get some MMO and the guy calls. Person was there this morning and gave him his asking price ($900). It's hard to find cars this solid around here. Oh well. Search goes on.
To bad you missed out on the valiant. here is more pics. The engine shot is mine(sorry if its a little o/t) Other two shots came from ebay.
Yeah, I'm still bummin. I did find an old Banthrico 50 Chevy at the local flea market today which made me feel better for 15 minutes. It went away though.
Damn, that ****s. I was excited to see another Valiant. The site wouldn't load for me last night after my first reply. I absolutely love the early a bodies. Anymore pics of your setup slayer?
My parents had a 63 two door when I was really little..... the previous owner had put in a 318 four barrel, it had a floor shift auto with bucket seats. I don't think it weighed very much and it would spin the rear tires with ease. My dad finally got tired of fighting it in the snow and ice during winters (it was the fambly truckster and his daily transportation at the time). It got replaced by a 68 vw squareback. I wish I still had all the cars my parents used to drive... at least I get to remember them. Tombat
your car's a 65 valiant v100. 2 door post. can't be a 64 w/ a grill change unless that meant they also changed the hood, too. in 64, the hood had a flatter 'plymouth' emblem on the front, and the latch to open the hood was in the grille. in 65, it was inside the emblem on the hood. very nice car. make a mild custom out of it. some other options u can find for your car. mopar junkyards occasionally have the super six setup, 2 bbl holley with matching intake / exhaust manifolds. offenhauser has a 4 bbl manifold and clifford performance has the hyperpak setup.
