    I concur!

I'd like to see more companies making re-pop steel for '57 Fords. Specifically the headlight buckets.

  5. No. The actual cost of stamping or casting the part is the same but the time spent getting the mold and dies correct is very different. Time spent getting it right is costly. Eventually the manufacturer get to a "close enough, not going on my car" point and they start production.

I see some have actually hit on the potential issues surrounding repop parts....Quality or country of origin. After years of fixin repop parts so they will work I would be afraid we'd see exactly what we were looking for for about what we wanted to pay,,,,,order it up and find out it is just like the crap they sell at every mail order parts place, wont fit, metric fasteners, too thin to weld on, etc. Im on a rant after a month of trying to use repro parts to assemble a 47 chev pickup, tail lights with real glass lenses! cool, lens printing upside down, screw on top, internal parts not assembled and wire not crimped to contact at pig-tail, utter junk, front lights are the same, more junk!

1955-1956 Buick side chrome and those solid disc aftermarket hubcaps that came to a "point" in the middle, like a 57 Plymouth? Also the 55 dodge Lancer hubcap, the one that has turqouise paint on the emblems. That would make me happy.

'53 Chevy Grill Sides - Everyone makes the teeth, everyone has the damn center bars, everyone has beat up or missing sides. Also, customizers love to use them on other makes/models, so I don't get why they aren't being repopped.

Plain Steel 30-31 Ford Grill Shells - I can only find Stainless or Fiberglass. I just want a steel one, wtf?

I've always thought..."man, they made this shit back in the day...whether it was stamped, forged, machined, or cast. Why in the hell can't modern technology and tooling reproduce the exact part in more quantity, but better quality and more affordable?" It's just bullshit that people who reproduce parts corner the market with their high prices just because they are the only people doing it. We shouldn't have to look to China to get parts for our American cars.

Well, since we're making a wish list here:

    1) Affordable, semi-correct-fitting, 1951 Merc rockers.

The price of 'good ones' is way out of my budget, and the cheap ones will fit everything from a 4-door Honda Accord to a full-sized Chevy pickup. (Note: some modification may be required.)

    2) Correct 49-51 Merc door sill plates. Stockers that are available are usually clapped out- and they still get good money. All it is is a stamped piece of aluminum, but nobody makes 'em anymore.

    3) PATCH panels for the commonly rusted out areas on '49-'51 Mercs. I see all the time the same spots rotted out on these cars, (around the turn signal lights, grill area, bottoms of the front fenders in the rear, bottom of the front of the front fenders, tail pan under the decklid, rear quarters behind the wheelwells, the qtr. extensions on the '51, the rockers...) yet when you look for decent patch panels, all they have besides the ill-fitting rockers are for the Fords. To this day it still amazes me this is an issue, with the popularity of the Merc. You can almost rebuild the entire lower half of a '49-'51 Ford, but not a Merc. You can get bad rockers for a Merc and that's about it. The rear end of the '51 quarter panel pieces alone would be a big help to me...

I need to make some dies and buy a big press. I could retire. :)

Also, affordable repo 33-34 grilles would be nice. $2000 is a bit pricy!

1949 - 1952 chevrolet rear tail pans. these cars always rust there if left outside for several years with a bad trunk seal.

I want the whole factory part for all body styles. saw the EMS one at a swap meet. you could probably use the bottom half and make it fit, but if you needed the upper trunk lip part forget about it. not even close.

how about 3" or 4" chopped windshields for 49 -52's? or chopped corner glass for 48 -54 5 window chevy trucks?
