I just bought a 51 Olds 303 from Dat Dirty Rat for my 32 5 window and want to run a Gm manual trans behind it.
Not a big deal as i see Wilcap makes an adaptor for the use of a 4 speed....
But, i want to run a T-5 if i can.
I know the bolt pattern for the T-5 is the same as the Muncie, so it'll bolt up..
BUT, what i'm not sure of is the input shaft and front bearing retainer..
Can i use thier kit designed for the 4 speed with the T-5?
I have a M21 as well, but wanted the od because this ******* is going to get driven...a LOT and i'm sure long distances.

Yes, i could dig out the T-5 and start measuring, but i wanted to hear hands on experience if i can.

I sent them an email with this question and havn't heard anything back yet so i figured what the hell...might as well ask here too.
Maybe someone has made this swap and can give me a couple hint's.

    Thanks in advance.....

Wilcap/Sharp is havn problems with there e-mail. Be a lot better to just give Pat a call. What I know is that the input shaft has to be trimmed atleast 1/2 inch and the throw out bearing collar has to be trimmed also to keep from sinchn down on the clutch disc. Other than that just bolt her in. Dont forget about the slip yolk maybe being different. Need an aluminum flywheel?

Thanks for the info, on both the trans and thier email..
I've heard lot's of good thing's about Wilcap so i had a feeling something might have been up with the email..

I had one T-5 set up to run behind my stovebolt in my 53 and had a feeling something had to be done up there because that one needed machining to work..

Don't think i need a flywheel......yet anyway. It has one with it.
I have to dig in to the mill yet and go over thing's before i spend money on extra's..I want to make sure everything inside is ready to rock and roll and if it need's anything i want to make sure i have the extra cash to put into it..
If i decide i want one..i'll let ya know, thanks :D

Here's a pic of the Mill..
THANK YOU DIRTY!!! this thing is BAD***!
you can't tell i'm TOO STOKED about this damn thing! hahaha
I can't wait to dig into it!

    Don't forget,I am a Wilcap dealer.
You can use your 10% off and free shipping ordering Wilcap parts from me.
I speak with Pat almost everyday.

Sold that set up to Lucifer the other day,and it should be done soon.
The adapters are made to order, normally doesn't have them stock piled.
So going in if you're ready to wait a couple weeks you will be happier.

    VERY COOL!
Without a doubt i'll be contacting you then..
We've done business before too, and good business at that.. I think i got the wheel's on my 53 from you a couple years back..

Anyway, do you by chance know what the set up cost's? round about figure anyway.
And thanks for the info about lead time for the kit. I'm going to be starting the frame in a couple week's and once it's off the jig i'm going to need it..
I'm tearing the motor down this weekend and should have a good idea the condition, and if it's good and i don't have to take out a mortgage to get it running i'll be in contact with you to get one coming.
    Thanks!

  10. Tony, that motor looks awesome, gonna be perfect in the 5window. By the way, I was talking to Mark at Rod Tech yesterday and he spoke very highly of you. He was talking about your 53 and how sick it is

Thanks man.. I'm gonna start tearing in to it tomorrow to see what i have to do to put some fire in the cylinders again.
Mark's a real cool guy, and his shop put's out some very *****in stuff..
He's about as down to earth as it get's..

I've actually got to get out that way real soon, my 5 window body is in a friends barn out there. About 10 miles past his shop in Penn Yan.
I'll probably stop in to see him and the projects they have going when i head out there.

  14. I would imagine that your car is at Lee Osbournes? Mark talked a lot about him as well, said the man is a metal genius (he showed me some of his work and I was blown away). Yeah, Mark's super cool, I started working with him on the weekends, and he's as down to earth as it gets. He's does incredible work, I'm blown away by the stuff he turns out

  15. I don't know about him building a '53 for himself, but the guy that works with him just got one not too long ago that he has heavy plans for. I do know that Mark has a 67-72 (I forget the exact year) chevy pickup that he's doing for himself. He's got some crazy plans for it, it's already stretched into a crew cab, and is bagged.

Yeah man, the body's at Lee's..Been there since he found it for me about 6 years ago..In fact the pic in my avatar is actually in his barn....The rest of it is here..
And Mark was dead on about him. He IS probably the best metal man i've ever seen..We've gotten a few lesson's from him and man i can't believe the **** he can to with tin...And he makes it look easy beside's.
Way cool that your helping Mark out. He's probably a good guy to work for and with. He offered me a job out there a couple time's but i just don't really want to move that far away from here.
I gave it a LOT of thought though..a lot..
Tell him i said hi and i'll try to stop out there soon..

  17. Yeah, I was stoked when he called and asked if I wanted to work over there. It's a drive, but I don't mind. Just the **** I'm learning makes it worth it. Yeah, Mark said Lee basically does it in his sleep, like it's nothing for him to bang out a cowl or door skin and it comes out perfect. I'll see him Sat and tell him you said hey
