Just got off the phone with B:cool: bK and he has graciously offered the use of his canopy and surrounding area to "host" the HAMB Meet & Greet on Saturday Aug 11th at Noon.
The canopy will be set up in his usual area at the end of the pits and where the spectator area starts, about the 4 mile mark and clearly marked with a HAMB/RRT banner, probably more then one.:D

Look for his green Chevy convert, my purple Big Olds, and Larry's red roadster. Pls bring your cars to the meet and greet as there are quite a few I'd like to check out in person and I'm sure others would as well.

Group shot at 12:30 and I'm going to try to arrange for a motorhome or something high for the area so we can get a cool group shot with people and cars.

We'll also have neat HAMB nametags and stickers for all......if I can get a close idea of how many will be there SO......sound off if your planning on attending please, and if you can post a photo of your car on here now so that if we see ya ahead of time we can stop and say "hi".

For those that aren't fimilar with what my Olds looks like, I'll be there in this.:D

    Awsome. I'll be there.

There's always a couple of scoffolding setups down at that end of the course for film crews. I'll bet if you asked really nice, they'd take the pictures so you (Denise) can be in the shots too.

    See you Thursday and Saturday,
    Tom

people might want to check out the http://www.landracing.com/ site, and look at the "Rain" and other threads. I hate this part of the deal. Same thing every year. Worry about rain.

Nope, cuz I want you to have the freshest possible, ;) I'll be mailing them next day/or second day air. Gonna try to bake tomorrow, ship Wed, you'll have them by Friday.

I'll make sure I find your pits on that Monday and stop and say hi.

Good job TomH on adding a picture to your post. Knowing Denise's 'system' of identifying and meeting HAMBers photos are necessary! Just ask Ragdoll or the others we meet flying down 101 en route to Paso!
Plus, if you all are like me you know people by their cars, not their names!
    See you all very soon!

For those traveling a distance, Check the SCTA web Site
    http://www.scta-bni.org/
to make sure the event is still on.

The salt has seen a lot of rain this year and they may have to cancel due to the salt conditions.

The group I am part of a team which will be checking web site before starting the trip from the east coast (Flemington NJ)

I hope they do not have to cancel but 3 days each way is a long tow for nothing if the event gets washed out.

In the event of a washout  the Meet & Greet will then take place at the end of the road by the brown sign, same date, same time, for those that will be there no matter what. :D

I love your truck, I'm very much looking forward to seeing it in person! I have it as the background on my computer at home from the flats pictures everyone sent me last year.

Actually, a few laps of the pits is enough to wear me out:rolleyes: . But its the best way to cruise the pits.

I'm workin' really hard to plan A driveable.

There was a bit of a washout scare last year. I almost didnt go. The salt was super. Someone from the area posted that its been pretty dry this year. Now the wet thing is coming up again. We will be coming down from north of Seattle...rain or shine.

    From SCTA web site.

    July 30, 2007

Larry Volk called Mike Waters this afternoon (7-30-07) about 2:30, he had been out on the salt.

    Conditions are as follows:

There is standing water, about 6" deep at the end of the road,

There is about 2" at the starting lines and it's about 1" deep at the 2 mile.

The courses are in need of further work (Dragging) due to the flooding.

The salt is mostly dry around the side of Saldero Dike.

Larry went to visit Russ D****r at the Intrepid plant and get his take on what to expect.

The consensus was, between Larry and Russ D****r, that if we get no more rain then evaporation will most likely take care of the remaining water.

Russ estimates the evaporation rate at about 1/2" per day with the 90 deg. plus weather they are having. Of course the wind will help also.

A segment of our work force is scheduled to arrive this coming Sunday and by then we'll have a better picture of things to come. Stay tuned for more updates!
