Well dont i just look like a jackass, shows how much i pay attention to 51 mercs, never really liked the back of them, so i never pay attention to them. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
The car used to be in Yorba Linda, now its near Phoenix. And we don't drag it much, it's too dang hot to drive out here!
I know it was in Yorba Linda,I live there. That's where I saw it at. Nice car. The chrome spikes on the bumper and side-pipes look cheesey though. Takes away from the nice work, done on the car. IMO,of course.
This is the badest Merc i've ever seen! Thanks to a little trickery from Bumpstick. Somebody needs to build one!!!
Saw ur dads car on youtube...its the spinner hubcap car right? That thing had a rod knock or something fierce goin on in the video!
There's soooo many nice Mercs in this thread I almost feel embarrased, but what the hell...here's my old merc I sold a few years back.
My buddy's 49 . Bone stock , he bought it new . Came with 50 hood chrome from the factory . My 49 came with a 50 one piece rear window . I've heard some had newspaper used as door insulation from the factory . I have a early hood rocket that is much lighter then others , same part number but ,was made of a different metal due to material shortages from the war . Not much factory documentation available . Sorry for the blurr , still a cool picture , 1961 .
That is quite possibly the COOLEST Merc picture I have ever seen. Ever. Did he throw his tire iron over the cement wall to get into the groove before taking pics?
If it was chopped about 4",it might not look so bad,but it doesn't work for me. Should've left it a four door!
