you should try going into Canada from New York and then back.Going in is great with no problems at all but coming back into our own country across NY State borders is a real pain in the ass. I dunno maybe they thought you were an X hippie smokin dope or sellin and just wanted to bust your balls

    "a 94 buick regal 2 door." on I-8?
What did you expect the border patrol to think?

By the way, definately stop for a date shake at Dateland.

I don't blame your border patrol for being the way it is, it wasn't that long ago they caught that guy trying to smuggle explosives in from BC to blow up the Golden Gate Bridge.

You're the statistic proving they don't profile. You'll be randomly searched at the airport, too.

Don't feel too bad. I got pulled over a couple of months back in my '50 Ford convertible because I had blue dot taillights. The cop said they are illegal in Ontario because only snow plows can have blue lights. I guess I'm going to confuse all of the other drivers driving my white '50 rag with blue dots in June?? But its Ok to almost completely cover the tail lights on your Dodge truck until only the RAM logo shows. Nice.

  8. Last year I was driving my 60 Ranchero down 512 south of Tacoma when a pony tailed Stater I passed on the side of the road pulled me over.

She told me she pulled me over because I had no front plate.

I asked her, what kind of plate I had on the back.

She didnt know, even tho she walked passed it.

I told her to go look, in this state, when you have a collector plate, you only get one for the back.

See walked back, looked, and walked back to her car, got in and waved me on.

Took me 2 1/2 hours last weekend.

  11. I once got pulled over in my '60 Pontiac by a city cop. Reason? He couldn't see my reg and inspection stickers. NY has you put them in the lower left of the windshield. Every 59-60 GM or for that matter any other wrap windshield car I have ever seen - even ones in junkyards with 1960's stickers barely showing on the glass - the sticker is as close to the corner as you can get it. I guess this guy'd never seen a wrap windshield before.

At least the one other time I got pulled over in it was for peeling out from a stop - he had a good reason.

I'm more surprised the border patrol pulled anyone over, some places on the border they're only allowed to arrest an illegal if they walk up and tap on their window. You suppose he'd find it funny if you told him you had an ACLU "get out of jail free" card? Hmm, probably not.

  12. my brother-in-law feels this posts pain. Everytime he takes his old Norton chopper out for a ride he gets pulled over. I suppose him not wearing any pants might have something to do with it, though.

you're a long ways from the Mexican border to be talking about how the BP operate....those guys work their asses off and the fact is the job is just much bigger than they can handle.

It's definately changed along the border.

The old "Have any fruits or vegtables to declare" stations at the state border are now BP checkpoints.
Along I-8, There are 2 checkpoints in each direction between here and San Diego. They are putting what look like anti-tank barriers strung with cable along the south side of the freeway as well as clearing what looks like a wide DMZ between Yuma and the sand dunes.
There is a constant flow of BP aircraft in the area and we saw dozens of BP vehicles crusing I-8 too.

That being said, I saw a TV report that they are only prosecuting drug mules if they have over 500 lbs of pot.
499 lbs gets you a free bus ride back to the border without prosecution.

That being said, we don't have traffic cops here anymore, just ticket vending machines.

As I understand it, the judge that set that limit was one of the group fired by Bush for not doing his job.

I remember as a kid ridin with dad in his bright orange A roadster hiboy, in JULY, and gettin stopped for blue dots, and being told the same thing that only snow plows and ambulances could have lighting like that... so i guess when you think of it the grill is pretty low, could have been mistaken if you were blind...but there was NO SNOW as it was in JULY hahahhahahha... out here tho anything 58 and older can have blue dots legally anyways...

  20. Whats the gripe? I flew home from Iraq in uniform and then from California on military orders, in desert cammies and had to dump my sea bag then go through the wanding and pat down. I didn't mind dumping my bag, or having to strip off most of my clothing to go through the TSA checkpoint but it kinda bothered me to be wanded and patted down while they let 4 people of Arab descent walk through with "have a nice flight" wishes from the TSA person.

ha yea I got a blue dot ticket one evening....damn CHP pulled me over after seeing me from a good mile away in traffic...I asked what the problem was...he saw the lights from that far away..isn't that the purpose of taillights? Fixit ticket anyway.

In most cases, drivers know why they got stopped. Big no no is blue dots. Been illegal since I was a kid. (56 now) You can spot them pretty far away because your lights are now purple (red+blue=purple). If I run with something I know to be illegal in my state (tinted windows, no front plate, blue dots, open pipes), I sure ain't gonna gripe if I get stopped.

Oh, by the way, if you get stopped for the same thing and the cop remembers you, the fine for Failure to Comply is $150 + 1 point.

Its only emergency vehicles can have blue lights, not just snow plows.

Blue dots are not legal in ontario. Neither are blue nipple lights or underglow.

If your taillamp or stoplamp or headlamp or license lamp or clearance lamp is out, or your neon license lamp ring or under chassis neon is on, or your front plate is not installed, or your exhaust is too loud, or you have 15 pounds of shit hanging from your inside mirror blocking your vision, or any other illegal additions hanging in or in or under your car/truck/van/motorcycle don't be surprised to be pulled over, and for God's sake don't whine and piss and moan about your persecution by the LAW!
You chose to install the stuff, you chose not to check your equipment before hitting the road, YOU chose.
Don't blame the law enforcement people for enforcing the laws of your city, state, nation. That's what we pay them for and train them to do.
Take responsibilty for YOUR actions or inactions and go on about your business. It is really easy to avoid becoming acquainted with your local Police, think about it!
Sometimes we all act like 5-year-old little kids, JEEEEEEEZZZZZ!

Im still just wondering how driving a 94 Regal 2 dr is an "old car"...

  26. '94 GM product in 2007. That is past the end of life rating isn't it?

If I break the law and get stopped I don't beef about it. The last time I was stopped (several years ago) the officer asked me if I was in a hurry and I said yes. This set him back for a moment, then he asked if I knew how fast I was going to which I replied honestly that I did not. He told me he clocked me about 30 over to which I replied that I knew I was speeding but I didn't realize I was going that fast.

The entire exchange was very civil and courteous with no smart mouthing on either side. He kept me for a few more meinutes while he ran my information and then came back and asked if I thought I could slow it down. I said I could and he handed me my license while telling me have a nice day.

I said all that to say that we all break some law nearly everyday thoughtlessly or otherwise and we sometimes get breaks and sometimes not. I deserved to be cited that morning, it was stupid driving nearly 80 through the area I was in. The officer chose to give me a break and I appreciate it. I always try to be courteous to law enforcement personnel not to get out of tickets but because they have a tough job and most of them are decent people.

The last two times I was pulled over for speeding...I was honest with the cops and both times they let me off easy. Wrote me for non-moving violations instead of speeding which was nice of them.

Yea, learned the hard way also use to get tickets all the time for illegal stuff on vehicles starting abiding by the law and stopped getting tickets. Funny huh. My dad has been in law enforcement for 35 years and he says if you man up most of the time you will only get a warning unless you get a rookie with an itch , but if you start out being a dick you can bet your going to get a ticket. Last few times i did get pulled over for speeding and not completely stopping at a stop sign i just keep my cool and yes sir and no sir the questions and got off with a warning. :D
