Wednesday night, Nashville. Stray Cats, Pretenders and that little 'ol band from Texas.

Pre concert meal and adult beverages; then traveled by Hummer Limo to the concert.

Returned to the farm for an all night poker game. Is this a great country?

  6. I love ZZ Top...

I'll never forget one of the drag races in Bakersfield, I think it may have been a Super Chevy show back in the early 90's...

We saw this dude with a long beard betting on each race with his buddies... some cash was changing hands... and my brother makes a smart-*** comment "Hey, look't ol' ZZ Top there betting on all the races!

Then, we were out at the show and see this bad-*** lowered dually Chevy pickup... I think it was yellow... and there were some keays in the ignition with ZZ key chain on them...

We put two and two together and figured it was theirs... I never really knew if it was them or not.

Before that even... I was at the Fremont Nostalgia Nationals when I was 13... and my dad took this picture of me standing in front of the Eliminator Coupe... good times! Check out the Andy's T's van in the background... cool, as I had just bought one, and put it on. It was May, hot... and I got long sleves on!

Sorry for the ****py quality, it's a picture of a picture I took, as it is in a collage in my garage (that rhymes).

    Sam.

It took over an hour to get to our seats. All the women wanted us to pose for pictures. The dude on the far right was chosen to introduce ZZ Top on stage.

Living in Nashville, I've seen most every group and show over the last 40 years. Never one with as much talent on one night as those three groups.

If you go, listen for ZZ Top to do Pearl Necklace and Tube Steak Boogie.Too funny. Billy Gibbons is an amazing picker and a rodder like us. His Cadzilla is now on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit.

  9. Billy Gibbons is also a very talented lip syncher.

Watch what you say about the Reverand. They were here in The Woodlands[Houston} a couple of week. Some tickets on the lawn were only $16.00. They are the same 3 guys playing the same 3 notes-kick***.

I was amazed to see on the latest episode of "Hard Shine" that Billy Gibbons is also a talented pinstriper. What a guy! Oh, and have you seen his babe of a girlfriend?

They were here last week with the Stray Cats and the Pretenders.
The Stray Cats kicked ***. The Pretenders ****ed. The sound was like mud and Chrissie Hynde spouted off about PETA and being a vegetarian between every song. After the last song she told everyone that eats meat to go f#@# yourself. A lot of people were pissed.
ZZ Top still rocks as hard as ever, I have never seen a bad ZZ Top concert.
If God didn't want us to eat animals why did he make them out of meat?

i love when people quote either bumper stickers or common colloquialisms and act as though it was their original thought.

I love when people rag on someone just for the sake of raggin', not contributing anything useful to the thread. I saw ZZ Top 3 times, and each time was better than the last... My buddy is a huge Top fan, and mailed Billy Gibbons a photo of his 34 Ford with a "ZZ Top tribute" airbrushed paint job. Billy actually called him on the phone to tell him he dug the car... I remember him bringing me his home phone to show me the name and number on the caller ID...Billy sent him 3 tickets to the show in our hometown, and gave us preferred parking p***es to safely park our hotrods. Billy Gibbons is a true car guy and a cool dude. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a HAMB'er.

Back in the early 80s I was part of the crew that built the touring set for the Recycler Tour. I did all the structural steel and welding on the stage set. Part of the job was a ten day stint in Houston doing rehearsals and working out the bugs of the tour. It was an incredible run and the high point of my working life. The guys were really down to earth around the crew, friendly and cool. When it came time to go get dinner they put in their $10 for a burger, fries, and shake just like everybody else. We would work all day on the set and they would rehe**** from about 4pm till 2am every day, it was heaven! You haven't lived til you hear them do the ballad of Jed Clampet, the Beverly Hillbillies them song!!!

It looks like you guys had a great time!! I too am a long time fan and Tube Steak Boggie is still my favorite.

But with all the weird posturing and photo-opp stuff Billy himself has been doing without the band lately I had sort of written him off as a OTH cliche.

Then I had the great good fortune to be in the audience at the Petersen Museum Deuce Week party. Billy was on a small stage with Jeff Beck, Jimmy Vaughn and Michael Anthony. Well, I'll tell you, Billy ripped it up good! No three-note sound alikes - just righteous straight ahead blues with a voice like he meant it. I'm back in the congregation, Rev.

Never miss ZZ Top when they're in the area. They always have great opening acts, like The Reverand Horton Heat, or George Thourougood (sp). It's like getting two great shows for the price of one...oh yeah the girls on stage with the Topsters are woth the ticket price alone!!!:D

Love the band and their first album is really worth a listening.
    BUT-
I'd love to see the Stray Cats live.

Bily can play a mean blues guitar, but Brian is the MAN on a Gretsch

I saw them at the old Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City in about 1972 or so. Before the green album. They were a backup band to Black Oak Arkansas. Awesome Concert. It was so loud my date got sick and had to take her outside so she could puke. Ok, so it wasn't the loudness that made her puke it was something else, but it was loud.

Hey by the way. Has anyone ever seen Billy Gibbons Black 36 Ford coupe? The one that got upholstered with the red leather off the sofa from his house?. Awesome car. I've looked for pics online and can't find any.

We saw them at a local concert held at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, TX. First concert ever - it was excellent - PERIOD!

DeuceRoger and I met the Rev. William Gibbons at the SoCal gathering at last year's LA Roadster show weekend. Billy talked to us for a little while before leaving. Needless to say, he's a cool cat.

We're glad he participates in our hobby.

BTW, Copperhead was at this year's Roundup, whereas Cadzilla was at a previous Roundup show. Which one do you think is Gilligan's favourite???

So does anyone know if he's a HAMB'er? I'd lay money he's at least checked this place out a few times even if he hasn't officially "signed up"...soooo Billy, you out there?

Billy Gibbons has been my inspiration to learn to play the guitar, His licks are amazing! I am going to see ZZ TOP for the 10th time on September 22 at the Meadowbrook in New Hampshire. If Billy is a member I have 1 question for him. What does PCH stand for? Its in one of the songs on the album Antenna. Been bugging me for years.

Here's the lyrics - I think it stands for Pacific Coast Highway
I was out on the coastline
    Getting a little shake
Do it every dayfor mercy sake
    Sometime surf's up
    Sometimes it's flat
    Eatin' up asphalt
    Prowlin' like a tomcat
    Stunned at what I see
Should I stay or should I leave
    Too much, not enough PCH
    Too much, not enough PCH
    Feelin' kind of free
    By the deep blue sea
    A true blood blue slud
    Hangin' on me
    Wanna head north
    But I might go south
    Can't make up my mind
    Cause I'm thinking like Brian
    I'm hangin' in and out
I'm pullin' up cause it's about
    Too much, not enough PCH
    Too much, not enough PCH

    Now who is Brian?

Just ZZ Top played in Birmingham on Tuesday night, the show was kind of a last minute deal. I found out Monday morning. It was good to hear Heard it on the X, I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide. Waiting on the Bus/ Jesus Just Left Chicago and Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers. My 46 was the only hot rod in the parking lot. Don't know if the band saw it, but lots of behind the stage people were looking at it on golf carts.
After the show I was parked at Hooters to sober up and one of the tour busses went through the Arby's drive thru. Could I have some Beef and chedders with extra Arby's sauce and 2 Bibs?
Parking the coupe on Broadway in Nashville is always fun.
Billy Gibbons Black 36 Ford coupe was at the Roundup in 04.
