alright guys we have been talking about putting and HA/GR car together now for awhile now and it looks like we are getting ready to make this happen. i am trying to get an idea of who really wants to be involved whether it be time wise, $$ wise or both.

we need to get a list going of the parts we need and the parts we already have.

    some obvious basic necessities are:

solid frame (model A will work, essex would be cool though.)
engine (burny has a line on a flatty?)
    transmission
    rear end
    front end

wheels (i have a few in the garage)
tires (have a set of old biases that could work for now)
    gas tank
    carbs
    (94's or 97's)
    radiator
    peddle assembly
    master cylinder
    steering box/column and wheel
    seat
    steel
    $

so if you this is something that you would really be interested in lets get a dialog going about some parts you might have to contribute, some ideas on chassis design, etc.

  2. My Viper Brother, Francois and I have a '46 Merc front axle, spindles and suspension. I have a green metal flake boat steering wheel. Also have a Mooneyes tach. Francois says he'll start lightening the axle by drilling out the web when I give him the word. Have a line on a 272 GMC 6 holer. If we need to make a frame, we have some connections at Dave Uyehara's shop. Can get one welded up reasonably. Dave knows what he's doing. Also have a line on a couple of Corvair steering boxes. One of them is already reversed for side steer. And I can pitch a little cash at this. Not much, but some.

    Next!

I have Model A wish bones and front spring set. I can also get a full set of gauges if they are needed. I am always at the swap meet so if there is something needed I can pick it up.

  6. I got a line on a Merc flatty and '39 trans as well as other needed items- clutch, water pumps etc. I should know by the end of the week if it's a go. The guy wants $800 for the motor and trans, so I'll go in $100 on that. I have a steering box and steering column as well, it's old Ford. I've got a neighbor wiht a pneumatic tubing bender that I can have bend up the roll cage to our specs...

update: I talked tothe guys wife and he'll be in town tomorrow, so anyone interestd can join me in going by and seeing the motor/trands tomorrow night...Like I said, I'll go $100.

  8. OK where is everyone? Seems like we had alot more people interested in this...Bueller

Anyway, today (Monday) I am going to look at and pick up the flathead at 6:30 PM. The gut is local in La Palma. The guy has also informed me that he has a complete '39 fronnt and rear suspension if I want it for- FREE! Shweet! Anyone want to go with, let me know. PM me or Email me. I could use some help hauling stuff and also anyone with flathead knowledge... Also, the guy who's selling me this is looking for smallblock Chevy parts, so if anyone has stuff to trade, let me know.

  9. OK, Burny and I are off to get a flatty and trans tonight. Everyone who wants in on this deal needs to be sure to make it to the Anti-Donut Saturday AM. Looks like we will have 2 drive trains, so I hope there's a lot of us doing this. We can build 2 cars and race amongst our selves, if nothing else.

    We will update tonight…

    a 305 and either a powerglide or 350.

  13. Well the Flatty deal came through and here's the proof. Here's Chili Phil and Rusty Rod and the guy whos garage we cleaned out. We picked up the '39 trans with an extra rough backup trans, 4 aluminum intakes, about 6 sets of heads, water pumps, generator, starter, dizzies, a bucket of fuel pumps, a backup 4" crank, and boxes of misc. stuff. The complete wheel to wheel '39 front and rear end will be snatched up Wednesday...

So where we building this thing?

the shop is pretty small, about 1000 sq feet, but im splitting it with my friend so i will have around 600. depending on how it goes though i will probably want to move to a bigger shop within about 6 months or less

  24. Hey, we definitley need to find a shop. We (Chili Phil, Rusty Rod, and myself) picked up that motor and a shitload of flatty parts last night. I went to drop the motor off at Phil's and it dawned on me that moving this stuff around everytime we want to work on it is going to be a royal pain in the ass.

For for the time being I'll be holding onto the pile and selling off what we don't need.

Timebomb, how much space you need and how much you want to spend?

I can go in 100 or 200 a month. I know Phil's into it too.

If we can get 8-12 we can get a nice size shop.

Erik- doesn't sound like you are going to have any space for storing this thing as we work on it...

Where is your space? Are there any other units avaiable?

right now I pay $375.00 per month I share with another guy our shop is 1800 square feet, but our lease is up in Jan and they are raising our rent to a $1000.00 a month, So I am in for $375 a month or a little more for both my cars!
either way I need to rent a shop so ya I am in for sure!!!! Location is not a biggie for me!!! Long Beach is OK with me!!!!

i dont know about other units but i think my shop space should be enough for the time being, if turns out that its not we can always look into other spaces.

I am would definately in for shop space. I am not going to be at Z's for the next to sats, but I would like to buck up some cash for the parts fund. Do we have a treasurer or is it unoffically Burny since the first major purchase is his?

  30. Tetanus, Can we store the thing thing as we work on it? If yes, then that's cool. My whole thing is not to be hauling parts around everytime we gotta work on it.

Vik- I guess I'll be the treasurer...I think I'm the only one with Paypal too, if you want to use that- ron@burncoUSA.com - Paypal addy... Just make sure you note it's for the HAMBster...

Oh, and we need a name to...
