Hi all. I had a great experience with a fellow HAMBer and an Alliance member, and I like to give praise where praise is due. I needed these for a project I am working on: HURST 28 3/4"X7 1/2"X15" "PIE CRUST" LIST $325.00 PAIR SLICK THIS TIRE IS CAPPED ON 235/75/15 RADIAL CASING. BUFFED WHITE WALL MEASURES OUT TO 2" WIDE.PERFECT SIZE TIRE FOR YOUR EARLY FENDERED/ NON FENDERED HOT ROD! [/quote] I called up Cody (HOTRODRUBBER) of Hurst tires, on Monday morning (Oregon time- I'm EST), very easy to order since he already knew what I was looking for from my PM. Took my card number over the phone, was friendly, took interest in my project- and assured me they would be here by the following Tuesday (the next week). Well, to my amazement, they were on my porch three days later. (Thursday morning). Cody- it was a pleasure doing business with you, you had exactly what I was looking for, and I want to thank you for a job well done.
Yep... I bought a pair of similar slicks, only 8 1/2" W.....and got 'em faster than promised....GREAT customer SERVICE too.......
Hey MercMan, let me ask a dumb question because I have never owned a tire that's recapped over a radial,... is it still a radial tire , and can you still run bias-ply nylons on the front without any handling problems? Congradulations to you and your son for being on Classic Car tv.
I have Excelsior 5.50-16 bias fronts and 8 1/2 X15 Hurst slicks on a 2200# rod and there is no problem.
When it comes to mixing Bias and Radials it is all about the weight. I can not condone the practice, but I know on cars 2500# and lighter I have never seen a problem. With a heavy car "say 3000# and up" you can run in to a understeer or oversteer condition at speed under cornering. Many people have many views on this, I hope this helps. Recapping does not alter the construction of the casing, Radials remain radials and Bias the same. Cody
Cody, you do however condone (sp) girls drinkin beer out of there butts. Been there seen that!........OLDBEET....yer other dad
Not to Hi-jack the thread but Radirs are $249 each. That is direct from Radir. I have seen Cody's Hurst's on several cars up close & personal & they are very very nice. I'll consider purchasing some when I finally melt through the Radirs. Especially considering the lengthy time it takes to get the Radirs. I think I waited about 4 months last time I've seen enough feedback on the HAMB to know that Cody's customer service is tip top. Radir customer service is o.k. but SLOW as hell. Just wanted to come to Radirs defense on the price thing. Both companies make a very fine product.
