Thanks a lot, Nex. You've just blown my mind, to the point where I don't know if i can go on...This is right up there with:

Why is MINIMALISM such a big word?

    Or my favorite:

    RACECAR SPELLED BACKWARDS IS RACECAR

    Thanks again,

Yeah, I'm driving there - where you been, man? Don't tell Two Bridges, but I am bringing the tow bar (just in case). Yes, this entire excercise is one giant Leap of Faith - that's kind of the whole point (plus I hope to have a blast and maybe inspire someone else to get out there and have some fun torturing their car). My life isn't getting any longer and I want to do some things now, while I still can. Next year, I'm shootin' for the HAMB Drags and in '09 - well, I'm thinking big...

The list got a little longer, when I had to go back and re-do stuff inside the engine...Maybe today will go better. Ordering parts this morning (carb kits, etc) and am waiting on other parts to arrive (input shaft, trans pan and dipstick tube). Will spend the day finishing up the engine (hopefully)...

Well, it's coming together. Still waiting for some parts to arrive, before I can stab the drivetrain, but I just might make it. I'll tell you though - I'm no thrasher. I can't perform any task out there without getting all sidetracked on details, try as I may. Sometimes, the details aren't even on the car - like when one of my crappy tools breaks and I have to stop to build a new one, etc...Anyway, I hereby declare: This will be my last thrash. I don't deal well with stress anyway and chasin' a deadline is not my idea of a good time. With any luck, I'll get a day or so to rest before hitting the road to B-ville.
Only a few details to deal with on the drivetrain today, then I'd like to make some ductwork for the radiator and whip up a new dash. Hmmm - still have to clean up some ugly wiring issues, too. And I haven't even started on the lettering yet. Jeez, I better panic! What am I sitting in front of this computer for?! See you guys later,
    Scotty

The Sedan is sitting forlornly in the shop on stands and three wheels.......looks like Uncle Miles and I are leaving in the late model sometime today. At least we will get a few days on the Salt before we have to come back on Thursday....let`s hope some Salt Exposure will cure my VERY grumpy current demeanor......

Thanks for all the support, guys! That's just one more thing to keep me going, when I'm layin' under there with chips and grit fallin in my eyes, etc...
House, sorry it wasn't meant to be for you this year. But I'm glad you're still going - because nobody, NOBODY has more fun on the salt than House! Took me for the thrill ride of my life in a rental car one year...but that's a whole 'nother story.......
I went out to the shop with a list in my hand today. At quittin' time, I'd crossed off about half the items and added about 6 more that just popped up. I got all the parts and tools together now to fire this little piglet, later in the week. Finished up the trans (finally), ran some wires, fabbed a new starter mount/support, etc...just bouncin' around the shop like a ping pong ball. Feels like I got some stuff done today. Couldn't help thinking about what's happening at Speedweek (the Old Crow nailed a record!) - pretty inspiring!
Gotta panic over to Janglegirls for dinner now, then it's off to bed. But thanks again, guys. Once again, the spirit of the HAMB carries me through the day...

Tuesday night. Didn't get the drivetrain stabbed today, but as of this writing, it's dangling from the chain, with 60PSI of oil pressure in it. Trans and torque converter are bolted up and the chain is attached to the cherry picker. Firewall wiring is done and all conditions are GREEN for a Thursday AM install. That will be a nice milestone. Then I'll need a couple days to hook everything up (remember, I'm making a lot of changes to the old combo, so it's all new "incompatable" stuff - that's what slowed me down again today).
Meanwhile, the insurance is turned back on, new tags installed, all safety gear is installed or on the way and we're even starting to get busy with some bonus projects, like swapping guages, gathering pit equipment, etc...If this thing fires up and breaks in the cam without tossing a rod or something, I'll finally be able to breathe and relax a little...What the hell am I saying?! I better panic, Jackson!!!
    Later,
    Scotty

Well, shoot sounds like all the truly hard stuff is done (or is it just the volume of it that seems so?). Do you have all the stuff you need (that you know of)? I would hate to have you get close and have something not show up (like Kiwi Tinbender's tire :( , that's still a damn shame).

Regardless, that's not a bad place to be, oil pressure and the install date is visible as more than light wayyyy down at the other end of the tunnel (toot toot?!?!? CRAP! it's a train, again, run for it!!!!). Best of luck and 'positive waves' sent (Kelly's Heroes, Oddball).:D

Positive Waves - wow, I haven't seen Kellys Heroes in many years...
Yeah, I feel so bad for House. This morning I'm still realizing more little items I need, but so far, it's all stuff I can pick up at the corner parts store...Except for my new helmet - I ordered it from G-Force Outlet last Saturday and on Tuesday I recieved an e-mail saying my order is being "processed". Hmmm...Hope that doesn't get ugly, as I can't use my old helmet anymore and have no more money for another one. Worst case scenario: I end up renting one from somebody on the salt. I better start making up my cardboard sign now...No wait - I have to go to work now. More later,
    Scotty

Ha! Thanks for looking out for me guys, but I'll use 2 Bridges helmet if need be. (Pssst! Hey guys - over here. I'll be secretly infecting that porch helmet with Dapper Dan Hair Dressing - 2 Bridges will be jitterbugging and shopping for Flatheads before he knows what hit him! Heh heh heh...)

This morning my pal Carpenter Chris snuck out of work "for an hour" to help me stab the drivetrain into ol' Z Dawg. FOUR HOURS LATER, we finally got it in! Usually takes me about 1/2 hour, working alone. But all those little changes I made last winter really bit me in the ass today. Plus, I'd switched from OEM motor mounts to solid Moroso ones and guess what - they're different. We tried putting spacers in between the block and mounts, to no avail. Pulled the old ones out of the trash and slapped 'em on and were almost there, when the starter hit a stud I'd welded to the frame rail to hold tubes and wires. Had to finally knock out the stud entirely, but that finally did the trick - it's in there. Spent another 2 hours, hooking up stuff underneath the car and running wires, etc, then ran outa time. Carpenter Chris is a stud - I just hope he doesn't get fired or something. I tried to send him away several times, but he was just into it...(Good guy to have around, too - used to crew on Indy cars. In fact, he crewed on the last car to run an Offy at Indy - pretty wild story)
Now I'm late for bed, but satisfied. Will spend the weekend hooking up stuff and getting ready to fire it off - that'll be a great milestone...
Thanks again for your interest and support! You guys have been great. Uh, there is just one thing...We had figured on $1500 for the trip (includes gas for both cars, motel, food and $500 of it is for entry in 150 Club). Unfortunately, I went over budget on the build-up and we're about $1,300 short of that goal. So I'm just wonderin' if your next door neighbors kids soccer team needs some Gosson Bros shirts to intimidate the competition? And hey - they bring good Karma: Bobby Green wears one and he set a record at B-ville this week! I'll be wearing my Old Crow shirt on the salt, in hope of the same good luck...Just a thought.....

Hey, just to clarify: I know there's only about 5 guys still reading this tired thread and I don't really expect you to buy more shirts. I COULD use your ideas on last minute fund raisers though. I'm planning on making some personal appearances at local car gatherings with Lil Zilla and my guitar, to drum up some t-shirt sales, IF there's time. If not - do I still need a gun permit if I tell 'em up front it's just for a convenient store robbery?
