Here are some pics I took on Saturday at the Flats. Not as quick in posting mine as Ratstar was but better late than never. Enjoy!
You guys go to Bonneville and take pictures of street driven cars. Only two race cars in there. I don't get it.
Thank you for taking the time /effort to take the pics and post them for those of us not able to attend .
Yeah. Those cars suck. Who wants to see pics of those old things anyway? Guys never took their street cars and raced them at B'ville. P.S. Nice job Stomper.
That's better. In the mourning i get to leave for the salt. My attitude will improve a lot. At least i can go out to the garage and look at bonneville cars.
all the pics are top notch. something about a rod covered in salt just does it for me. and this just took it over the edge. this thing is SICK.
hey was that buick flat 8 supercharged? I think that guy lives in the kansas or nebraska one of the two. thats a pretty cool car.
The Speedway streamliner also has Aluminum front wheels. The builder/owner's daughter told me about the wheels and why they use them..... from what I remember: It is hard, if not impossible, (very expensive, I suppose) to find rubber tires that are a fairly small diameter that can withstand the high speeds of a streamliner (300+). I think the rubber tires balloon and increase in height at higher speeds, as well as getting very hot. Also, the aluminum wheels leave a unique footprint on the salt that the crew can study to determine how the car is handling at high speeds. She gave me a much more in-depth explanation of the aluminum wheels, but this should at least help a little! Malcolm
Yea Rich, but those are almost all Hamber cars. Let's see a pic of Scary Larry's smiling face to prove he's there.
In 2000 I had my Nissan V6 In Jack Costella's 'liner. It has aluminum front wheels as does his 5050 motorcycle 'liner and the Costella & Yacoucci 'liner. Jack likes aluminum fronts. They are little and don't come apart like the Cessna tires do. I don't think that 'liner with the 2300 Pinto in it really needed alunimum wheels, but maybe someday. The '47 Chevy is Gary Cope's car "Gang Green". In '85 he took my record with it's predessor
Finally I get to go tomarrow. But no camara. If I had a camara I would maybe take one "Fans" car and the rest race cars. Where else do you see Bonneville cars? Fans are all over the country.
Thanks for the pics. They're all great. Keep them coming Don't pay any attention to self absorbed photo experts that can't even spell "camara"[sic] let alone not bother to even take one.
I now wish I would have driven a little slower in the wet stuff. It took four hours to clean my car and there will definately be some rust.
Not too sure about the tow truck, would like to see mor pics of it if you or someone else has them. Cood be cool but it could also be un cool, I wanna know..........
