What year is this Chrysler ? It was parked out in front of the Inn at
Spanish Bay along with a bunch of foreign trash. It
caused a stir as most of us on the sidewalk couldn't
definitively call the year. Anybody recognize it?

    Thanks,
    James

I reckon it's a 1957 300-c convertible(or someone has cut the roof of it).First year of the Torsion-Aire suspension, used to get more space in the engine compartment was the reason.'58's didn't have much style change to the '57.Priced at around $4900,295hp Hemi and first year of the push*****on Torqueflite transmission.Hope this helps.

I would say at least 58. Didn't everybody go with the dual headlights in 58?

Some 57 Desoto's had dual headlights. Like 57 Firedome. I think Exner made his own "rules".

No doubt about it, it's a '59 300E convertible. The entire rear treatment is 1959 specific, and the other giveaway is the red painted grille.

    The '59 300E didnt run a 375hp dual-quad 392 Hemi as the '57-58 cars had, they used a 375hp dual quad 413 wedge.

The state laws were "mixed" for 1957, some allowing and some not allowing the quad headlights. Chrysler chose to offer BOTH for the mid-level Chrysler and DeSoto offerings in 1957, and the dealer specified which it was ordering. The 300s and Adventurers only came with quad headlights for '57. The cheapest bodystyles utilized Dodge front ends, and therefore the Dodge's headlight arrangement. Dodge and Plymouth were only available with dual headlights for '57.

Here is Richard Carpenter's (of THE Carpenters) '59 300E convert.

I think it was torision bar suspension, not torsion air.

    I stand corrected, Thanks Guys.
It's still hard for me to see the difference because I can not see the tail lights on the '57 unless the tail lights are like all the other '57 Chyrslers. But I do see the painted grille on the '59.
