Went to the local u pull it today looking for a radio plug, spotted a solid and mostly complete 48 4 door sedan for sale in the yard. $1000, and they wouldn't let me take the 16" wheels But I did come home with this Sun tach and transmitter, along with an interesting mallory coil i've never seen before all in an old dodge truck. Grand total with tax, $16.
That coil is for an old Mallory rev~pole Distributor .... You need the Distributor that goes with it, Was it still in the truck ?
Yea, it was some kinda big mopar V8, I'm not up on mopar stuff but it was missing the intake and the distributor was in back. The distributor looked stock.
Hmm, Ya know.. You may need to get an old Mallory cat & check it out. Now that i think about it, I think the rev~pole looked like that but one side was black. Now im confused
Kingfish has been there. It's mostly late model stuff, but once in a while you can score over there. Na, it was plain white with a white cap on it. LOL It had bucket seats that were out of some late model. They looked and fit bad. The truck was a stick shift too, didn't notice how many gears.
Might of been a Custom Sport Special . "css" they put all kinds of weird stuff on them typical was tach, ign box ,etc Started putting bucket seats in 1964 ..Often when those were worn out and replaced with som junk The vin tag on door jamb would show it as a CSS Depending on year , most likely it has a sure grip again "should' be able to tell on tag and the sure grip center section will easy bring $350 maybe more http://benjamin_simons.tripod.com/css/ more at the web site
The buick was a 4 door, also for sale whole. Not sure on price. Interesting on the CSS trucks, never heard of that. It did have a big V8 with the distributor in back, but I'm not up on mopars. The intake was missing so I'm guessing it was something special someone nabbed. It had painted bumpers, at least on front. No carpet. And the driver's door wouldn't open. They had it sitting on wheels and one was holding it shut.
That Sun "football" tach is a great score. Best I can pin them down, they were sold from about 1955 to about 1964. One just sold on ebay for $152...without the transmitter.
