Not a barn find, rather my Pig-Sty Procurement from about 18 months ago. It's a more-door, was kept in an old hog shed, bought from the farmer who was always gonna "fix 'er up" and finally realized he was getting too old to ever get it done. The fellow did manage to collect some nice parts, which also came with the procurement. Car is very rust-free, but does have bent fenders at all the corners. Below is a shot of it right after I got it home and hosed it off, and one of the engine as it looks today after a little work....

I always thought those caddy v-8s were prime candidates for turbos with the exhaust coming out the top

actually all that's happend to the old hunk of***** is a family of 'coons made a nest in it and trashed the interior, i plugged up the intake and the exhaust so mice couldn't get in it, and closed the hood haven't touched it since. and it's actually only sat for 4 years. Someday she'll be saved, or not.

In 2000 I bought a barn find. It was a 1973 LTD that was in a one-car garage in Denver. I was last regestered in 1982 and had been in the garage ever since. The car had 39,000 miles on it.

    I bought it for $100.
Paid a locksmith $150 to make a set of keys (the originals were lost).
And had it towed to my house for $75.

I washed it, put a new battery in it and changed the oil and filter ($100 total) and drove it for a few weeks, and then put it in the paper.

    Sold it for $4400.

    $3975 profit for me!

HaaaHaa, that's my barn find story!:D

BARNFIND!, when you find one, you'll be saying it all day too:D
-1929 Model A 2dr sedan converted to pick up. It was a service station truck in WI. I found it when I went to look at a 68 Dodge Charger. The charger was alot rougher than I wanted and this was all covered up in front of it. Guy said not forsale. well anything is forsale if you throw enough money down.

A REAL barn find is one you find AND buy far below market value.
Finding a Deuce in a barn and paying $80,000 for it just doesn't have the genuine pop of paying $5,000 for it.
It's comparable to buying a box of old stamps, coins, or baseball cards at a garage sale for $50, vs. walking into a collectors shop and paying full price for your "discovery".

I know what an actual 'barn find' means and that is all that matters to me. You can post all the BS 'barn find' ads/stories you want.

I agree that alot of people are over using that phrase for nearly every good deal they find somewhere like that, however my favorite phrase for a deal "piece of sh*t I found sitting under a tree rusting away for 20+ years" doesnt seem to be catching on, and "barn find" has that sort of "rolls off the tongue" thing working for it, so it'll probably be around for a while... Although crack house find is rather popular in my 'hood and is pulling a close second! :)
