Right now I'm running a stock 30 ford axle with 38 ford spindles. I'm wandering what it would take to run some spindle mount spoke wheels on the front? What I want to do is something like an old dragster. What do I need to for wheels, spindles, and bearings?

Putting the wheels on is easy - fitting them with brakes is harder.

As far as what to do? I suppose you first gotta research some vintage wheels ( I assume you want vintage stuff) to see which ones are able to be retrofitted with brakes. I have some old Halibrands on my coupe - they are nice as there is a "brake boss" in the casting. Next is to find a compatible rotor/hat/caliper. I ended up notching my wheels some (they weren't so rare back then :( ) then have them machined by a competant machinist!!! Hopefully your are working with a LIGHT car. Too much brake heat (from a heavy car) may quickly overheat the bearings resulting in trouble.

Look around - guys have done what you want here. You're just a little homework away. Plus a couple sheckles

  6. I've got a real nice pair of mag big window Halibrand spindlemounts already fitted with adapters and rotors. 15x3.5 - they are for Anglia spindles. In extremely nice condition, probably the nicest mag Halibrands I've ever owned. They are for sale...

Which spindle mount wheels fit these spindles (please dont be general)? Do Anglia spindles have the same dimensions?

Anglia spindles are much smaller and shorter than early ford.

Now whether or not you could change from ANGLIA to Ford (via machine shop work) is another question.

i have heard of people doing it ....might work on a light car.....as a anglia spindle is really little.....also .....there are usually several different spindles offered in a spindle mount wheel..... such as old chevy , willys , ford , anglia , heck i even had a pair that were old mopar.......do your homework and be aware of what all is out there .....thanks brandon :D
