So I'm a bit new to hot rods and cars in general. I always see old hot rods with the hoods off and the long pipes coming out? What are the general uses for that, how are they hooked up, what's it for. My main reason for asking is I came across a 1937 pick up I found on some farmers land. I want to build a rat rod out of it and I want the pipes coming like I see in the photos, except I want four on each side that eventuall become one pipe that trails along the bottom of the truck, eventually turning up the back side of the cab into small smoke stacks. So before I do anything stupid I want to get my facts straight and truely understand what I'm doing. So any suggestions and comments help.
FIRST do a search a very long search secondly this is NOT ol skool rodz. this is the hamb your going catch alot of shit because most people in here (me inculded) are not into the rat rod craze.but this is a great source for traditional hot rod information if you don't know traditional hot rods then do a search find out. and learn hell sit back and read some treads you will learn just don't use RATROD anymore in here or your going to get your balls busted over and over. REMEMBER DO A SEARCH AND LEARN
I'm confused. The title of "intakes" makes me think you are talking about velocity stacks, but then you are talking 4 into 1 into smoke stacks... that sounds like headers which means this should be titled "exhaust". Got any pictures of what you have a question about?
I just snotted a little.... but yeah,,, sound's to me like some hollywood corvette-esq sidepipes with a 90 going to the moon alice,,,, to the moon....
Some might suggest it's too late. My suggestion? Lurk and read some posts and learn what this place is. Pay close attention to tech articles and learn what parts are what.
Hardluckokie, what town are you in here in Oklahoma? There is enough HAMBers here in Oklahoma that surely someone can help to teach you at least the difference of a Intake and a Exhaust manifold. Perhaps we can help this guy instead of running him off to pursue building his own abinomination w/o any inteligent influence. If your close to Stillwater, Shoot me a PM and Ill have you come over for a Beer.
Many street rodders refer to themselves as "hotrodders"; True hot rodders NEVER refer to themselves as "streetrodders". Now "ratrodders" are a whole new ballgame. You've gotten good advice here. All you have to do is READ! READ ! READ!....you are obviously an intelligent person, so the rest should follow. As you have no doubt already obsreved, certain terms thoroughly alienate HAMB Board folks. Beware and Good Luck! You really DID come to the right place!
