A recent post poll, here in the UK asked which model 32 coupe you prefered, 3 or 5 window. The outcome sort of suprised me, seeing that 3 windows pull a lot more, it seems, at sale.
Is this 5 window preference shared elswhere or do tastes differ around the planet.
take a look at the original post and see what you think

Got a 5 and have just bought a 3. Ask me in a year but I love the look of the 3 over the 5.

Tastes? They vary in different parts of the country, let alone around the world! They also vary according to fad, fashion, availability - or lack of - lots of things. But, one thing's for sure, Model 18's will always be popular.

  4. in my opinion i prefer the 5 over a 3, no real reason why just the lolok

I'd take both. 5 window, stock height, full fendered. 3 window, heavy chop, hi-boy.

3 windows are very scarce, so they bring $$$, but not from very many people.

I asked a fibergl*** shop once why there were so many 3 windows and so few 5's reproduced. He said that the 5 was a much harder mold to construct and cost more to make, but more importantly, the door of the 3 is much bigger than the 5 and most of his customers were too old and fat to crawl into a 5 window.

The popularity of any given body style any where has to do with rarity in the area, current magazine coverage, and just plain personal favor. The up and down popularity of T-Buckets (whether fadcar, track car, lakester styles) ebbs and flows with magazine coverage.

I remember talking to a rod shop owner years ago when Tim the Toolman was doing the 34 roadster, he said suddenly started getting heaps of enquiries for them. (Also, Movie + yellow 5w = clones)

I think so. Guinness goes good with everything!

  11. 5 Window all the way baby, though I did own a 3 window!
Something about the length of the side windows when there chopped looks out of proportion, its hard to get the right look. Having said that 3 window Larrys car is *** on wheels.

Several history books suggest the oldtimers thought of Tudors, Fordors, & 5w coupes as parts cars

I understand that down in Australia 4-doors are the norm, even for customs and rods.

I tend not to think too much about what other people think, let alone what other countries think of the way we do things! If we did it like they do, we'd still be sitting in the dark when the sun went down, writing with quills dipped in ink, and goose-stepping.

  14. I prefer the 5 window myself.
With reference to the above post, in New Zealand and Australia 4 doors were indeed the norm. The respective gubmints of the time saw fit to stick with family sedans. In NZ, you could only buy a new American car with overseas funds, and generally the only people who had those were farmers. They wanted to be able to throw bales of hay in the back seat, so four doors were the norm. Sad.

Yep, 4 doors are all the rage in Australia! I mean how else are you going to get five kids, three dogs, the missus and the milking cow to town?

Na, seriously, Australia was pretty hard done by when Ford released the deuce. I know we got 4 door sedans and 4 door phaetons, sports coupes, roadsters and maybe roaster pickups, but certainly no steel-roof coupes or closed cab pickups. I'm not sure if we got tudors, but can't remember ever seeing one prior to the advent of gl*** bodies and imports from the US.

Why do you think we inveted the 'ute' in 1933?

    Cheers, Glen.
