Don't you mean fellas? Just jiving you. Wonder what the fair grounds look like? Maybe call it San Mar for short now (When you heard Paso, you knew exactly what they were talking about) . Hope this is another chapter in the California car show book.

Santa Maria her I come! Sucks that stupid people always have to ruin it for everyone, whether it be the ones wanting all the money or the ones causing trouble. I've been going to Paso since I was a kid alot of memories.

HEY 40 Stude you left out the Scooby snacks comment ..go figure ...that was the one that made it totally look Sarcastic...Ever watch Scooby Doo when you was young? i think they got Scooby snacks when they would crack the mystery..And i did put "THINK MAYBE"
So if i was absolutely fucking 100% sure then i would have started the post with ..I am absolutely fucking 100% sure it was the gold chainers!

..to make you more upset than you obviously are....when the truth was revealed...Shaggy pulled the mask off the City guy and it WAS...."shock" Boyd Himself!!!! oh no...and he was just doing it to get rid of those pesky hot rodders....

Are you mad about me saying the spandex guys were from mars?

Everyone talks shit about Goldchainers ..Trailer Queens or Boyd on a daily basis here but if i make a silly scenario about why the show is being moved you are going to single me out? pull that wrinkle out of your spandex and lighten up!

my car is white right now but it will be in primer shortly after the body work is done...then some time during the winter i will park it long enough to get paint on it.

Everyone that knows me knows where i stand on hot rods! Whether Boyd built it in his shop or i built it in my back yard or you built it ....ITS A FUCKING HOT ROD!!!!! Whether its got 100k paint job or its rust and primer...ITS A FUCKING HOT ROD!!!! DRIVE IT!!!

The Santa Maria Fairgrounds are big enough to hold more cars than Paso I believe. Santa Maria always has cool weather. There are plenty of Eateries and strores but not like the old quirky places in paso's town square. The Speedway races on saturday nights from april to october. There is a main drag that crosses the entire town. Used to be our crusing route in the Lowrider days. The only thing that will probably suck is the cops. Santa Maria has a long standing Lowrider and Cruising History, they really don't allow cruising anymore but I remeber the days of bumper to bumper Lowriders and Rods.
I will miss Paso too, been goin since 95 but Santa Maria is a half hour from me and that is cool as shit for me.

Another hour of driving, guess that was my last Paso. 5 hours is a little too much for me. This really sucks.

Yep, and then the ones acting shitty are the first to whine about their treatment by the cops and other hot rodders. The answer I got from one group I commented on after this last Paso was "that's what we like to do". That was after they threatened me here on the HAMB. Classy!

The results of bad and irresponsible hot rod behavior are obvious and affect EVERYONE!

No matter where the showgoes, the same assholes are going to follow. Everybody needs to stand up and not let the same shit happen in a new town. Lets police ourselves.

No, I didn't leave it out (nor miss it)... and no, I didn't watch Scooby, I had better things to do than watch some lame TV program.

Uhm, OK:confused: ...but I didn't realize your comment was a "mystery"...

I'm not:cool: , I do not get upset...I've learned over the years that getting upset is more pain than it's worth...and I don't think "Boyd" was around when Scoobie was...so, how can that be tied together...??? Guess I missed the connection on that one.

Naw...I don't have a clue what you're talking about anyway.

Since I didn't get the Scoobie comment, and there were no smilie faces attached to your comments  , I figured you had it in for "gold chainers" like a lot of inhabitants of this board and I wanted to know where you fit in...if it weren't for "gold chainers", I'm curious who else you'd lay the blame on for the "Paso" debacle...???

Please explain what spandex is and who wears it and maybe I'll unwrinkle it, that is, if it's something I'd wear...sounds kinda lame to me.

OK, so the question I asked about if your car is primered just got answered...thanx for that...

Since I don't know you, I have no fucking clue where you stand on hot rods...but I usually sit in mine to drive 'em...!!! And what's driving a hot rod got to do with this thread...I don't recall any one comment about driving hot rods...but I am glad you do...and for the record, there's a lot of "gold chainers" that drive theirs too...whether you choose to believe that or not...

At any rate, thanx for a great come-back, it made my day...oh, DD, have a fucking RAD day...I intend to...

    HERE'S A QUESTION that i didn't think about.

Will there still be a show cruise??

    Is it still three days??

There will obviously be no music in the park after the show, so will they take advantage of the stage in the fairgrounds and have more bands throughout the day.

I guess I'm wondering the details of the show or if they have been figured out yet.

    Anybody got any info??

Looks like a new trend city's are following.."Pay us big cash, follow our rules, don't have fun.If you don't like it,get the fuck out."

Commercialization on a great hobby and past time..Screw Paso, screw Route 66 Randezvouse...I'm going to Bo Huff Sept 15th,and next Friday is the Past Pleasures free car show up here in Yucaipa....No limitations as long as it's pre '77...Good people and good times in a small town atmosphere..

I heard it was going to be local rap "artists" for 3 days, with cowboy music at noon.

  18. Penny's working out a lot of things (Pinstripers display/auction, art show, music, etc). The cruise is being worked on. Keep in mind, it was only a couple weeks from Paso to Santa Maria as far as decisions. This is a brand new baby with lots of details to work on

Guess I have to drive another hour south. I will still have fun seeing great cars, enjoy the show and hanging out with friends.

Seems Paso Robles wants to fill their "whine bars" with the yuppie tourist crowd.

Santa Maria is where I was born and raised. Happy to see that a big show is finally happening in the city. Broadway used to be a really big cruise spot untill the early 90's when the cops started craking down on lowriders. Hopefully, the ban on cruising will be lifted for the show.

There is a bunch of places to hang out just like in Paso:

May is a good time to go to the Speedway which is just past the SM River.

A lot of old burger joints with a lot of rod and lowrider history like Bill's take out on Broadway and JR's Drive in on Main Street or even Jacks restaurant in Old Orcutt.

Plus, there are big stretches of long straight aways on Blosser street that are perfect for some racing.

If anyone has some more questions on what Santa Maria has to offer then send me a message.

I have family in Santa Maria so this is welcome news.

I haven't been to Paso since the barracks closed anyways.

    Fuck that town.

Wow. I'm bummed. I think it had more to do with the hooligan factor and somehow, in their attempt to squelch the undesireables, they assumed that primered cars equals trouble makers. That sucks. I think they were fed up with it. Hell, alot of us noticed it, so think from their poerspective. They don't need the headaches...it's just shitty all around. End of an era...

Yep, I agree. See my previous post.

It sucks that people think they can do whatever they want because it's not their town. Hopefully Santa Maria will take a more hands-on zero-tolerance approach. I'm not a fan of police or government, but if it means I get to keep doing my hobby, I can accept it.

  30. I believe that alot of things added up, and finally broke the camels back.
-The knuckleheads dragging their pick-up truck, saturday night in front of the bowling alley.
-There was a fire on the side of the Paso Robles Inn and the fact that way more people showed up this years than in previous years.
    The cops were overwhelmed.
