What were the owners of that Ford thinking with those wheels... That toolbox gas tank is sweet! Very smart idea!
I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here... I was at Dixie Fried on Saturday and Sunday, first time. Lots of good cars, but the show was disorganized to a fault -- especially on Sunday. I was really looking forward to it, so maybe my hopes were too high. Somebody help me out here...
Hey I got a gront and rear shot of my truck in the mix. Thanks As far as the disorganized part I think it was a little , but all in all pretty cool for the few hours I got to hang out. There were a few billet rides let in that I think should have had to park away from the main show, but it ain't my show. Shane T.
Yeah, that bugged me, too. My guess was that they just didn't know how to say, Sorry buddy, but you have to park in Spectator. No big deal, but either it's a rat rod/traditional show, or it's not. If it's not, then just say so. Don't say one thing and then do something else. I'm not trying to trash the show, just saying that there was a lot of room for improvement.
I agree it should have staye true to its roots. Don't quite get what a 4x4 v8 bug or a billeted out 55 chevy with chrome street rod badges has to do witth Traditional rods either.
(laughing) Yeah, that bug was pretty funny. I spoke with the owner about it, and he said he used a boxed T frame, so I guess that's the traditional rod tie-in... And yeah, I just groaned when I saw that billet 55. I saw some muscle cars there on Sunday (not that there's anything wrong with that...). At least no one was paying any attention to them.
Shane- I was checkin you little truck out as you pulled in...very sweet ride. This was my first year to attend the show and I was pretty pleased with it. Yeah, I have seen nicer and been to bigger, but I think it was all-in-all a good time. I was driving the full fendered '36 flathead pickup and my pops drove over in his '60 Ford PU...we were parked across from you. I didnt get around talking to many people...we just kicked back and enjoyed the music. I'll keep an eye out for ya in the future and intro myself. Sharp truck man! --reed
Yeah I saw y'alls trucks. Cool rides for sure. I did the same just laid back and soaked up the "culture" for a while. Maybe next year I'll actually stay all day. We all need to meet and greet more. Later Shane T.
HEY RICH!!!!! WHAT'S UP MAN? I JUST GOT BACK FROM THE HAMB DRAGS! YOU SHOULD TRY TO GO NEXT YEAR. MOST FUN I'VE HAD IN I DON'T KNOW WHEN. YOU STILL GOT THE CADDY...YOU KNOW I'M A BUYER ON THAT WHEN YOU GET TIRED OF IT!!! SEE YOU SOON! REGGIE
This was the first Dixie Fried for me. I enjoyed it. I am planning on going next year. I also want to thank the Greazy Hubcapz for letting me tag along with them this year. They are a great bunch of guys.
That F100 was not exactly old fashioned looking, but rather I included the pics of it because the truck is truely used as a hot rod. That thing went 144+ mph at Maxton N.C. Flat out racing is hot rodding in the purest sense IMO. Tool box was cool, was'nt it?
Vic and I had a great time cruising up to Atlanta from Florida in his `53 panel truck. No problems, just a little oil and a fuel filter that was getting dirty. Stock Flathead was an eager participant. Last year and this year we broke the trip up by stopping at my little place in Dublin Ga. Since the truck gave us no trouble other wierd things had to happen like finding this hefty tree brach sticking out the roof of my tool shed.
