I need a tank for my '50 Suburban. Something nicer than the liquor bottle, but not modern billet.
I was thinking of modifying an old oil filter housing to work, the metal non-full-flow kind.
Something bigger than an Opti-Kleen bottle, has to visually fit in with my underhood stuff. (A water flask looks cool in a Jeep, not so much here)

    Any ideas?

How about an old Harley Sportster peanut tank shortened to fit?

I used an old Carbon tet fire extinguisher, hanging on fire wall with org. mounting bracket.

Glass overflows aren't allowed on most drag strips.

I'm using a black plastic water bottle off Wife's bicycle in a window washer reservoir bottle rack off an MGB.
A bicycle bottle rack woud be an easy bolt on too and a number of different bottles will fit in them including some small stinless coffee thermos's.
I found that my radiator will surge and recover close to a quart from cold to hot and back to cold so don't make it too small.

I'm running into the same problem. Plan on extending the upper brass tank so it looks a bit bigger, but as a seperate chamber to be used as the overflow. Kind of like, being hid in plain sight.

A huge flask. I have seen a flask that is about is about 12 to 18 inches tall and 1 to 2 wide that would be cool

I like the fire extinguisher idea. Not sure about the one specifically recommended above, but the last one I saw was all copper/brass and had a real nice patina...

Mine is just a bit of exhaust tubing with a pet-cock and a small puke tube.

Oddly enough, when this pic was taken, the top bracket was broken making it crooked. Try not to look at that part....

I am not sure that I understand. why not just let it drip on the ground? I mean, aside from all the environmentalists whining. How does it make it's way back into the rad?

maybe i don't get it cause my flathead has a reservoir on top of the radiator.

  21. you need a radiator cap(usally with out the ears ) that lets the pressure out then draws the fluid back in when cooled... it make the system airless thus the boiling point rises too... the draw back is most old rads are not ready for thr 15-20 lbs of presseure to do this ...if its just a catch can then it stays out when puked out..
SQUIRREL DID I GET IT RIGHT OR DO I NEED TO GO STAY A NITE AT THE HOLIDAY INN?

    That bong's pretty clever............
That coffee can looks about perfect in there!
Good ideas going on here! I look around my shop, don't see anything just right yet.

i like the bong idea best. or, how about one of those hooka pipes that all the gas stations are selling now ? since alot of gas stations are owned /ran by foreign people (you know the ones i'm talking about) these days...hooka pipes are available at almost every gas station here.

I used an old oil puke tank from a sprint car.
Welded a bung to the top where the K&N breather went.
Inlet has a tube that runs to the bottom of the can.
It should work out OK. Old aluminum part, recycled ;)

I just bid on a ol' timey looking embaulming fluid bottle with a bunch of lettering on it still has the label too that is kind of cool it says how much to use to give the corpse a soft velvety apperance.

Get one of the Budweiser 16-oz aluminum beer bottles, strip the paint off with EZOff oven cleaner, and then wrap a pad of 0000 steel wool around it and twist--instant spun aluminum beer bottle.
I'm going to mount mine upside down, with the neck at the bottom, a disc welded across the hole, and a radiator drain petcock installed. Then drill a hole through what was the bottom of the bottle, but is now the top, and insert a length of aluminum line all the way down to the bottom of the bottle, so it'll be a recovery tank, rather than simply overflow.
Tig a simple mounting bracket to the side, and call it done.

    -Brad
