Speaking of Tool Boxes.....Does anyone else use them for other purposes??

I bought my FOURTH one last week and I still don't have one in the garage!
Yes, that's right, all four are inside the house and serve different purposes. It's a sickness I tell ya....a real sickness.:D

I bought my first toolbox for the kitchen less then 2 years ago. I really needed some extra storage and since I had plans of doing a garage themed kitchen, the red Craftman fit right in.

I've posted this photo before but here it is again
    [IMG]

A few months later I ended up purhasing another one for a tv stand in my computer room
    [IMG]

Then I received a new printer for Christmas and the new printer didn't fit on the old printer stand, so......I went out and purchased another tool box as a printer stand. The extra storage is PERFECT for all those office-y type supplies next to my desk in the computer room. Even turned the large bottom drawer into a hanging file folder drawer.

SO......a couple of weeks ago I won a 46 inch HD TV at work and I either needed to hang it on the wall or get a TV stand for it. Well nothing at the regular store suited my "style" so off to Sears I go. I already knew I didn't want a red one cuz I had taken the bottom portion from the kitchen out to the living room and put the TV on it and the red one just didn't go with the living room decore. Besides I knew I needed more draw space for what I had planned.:D
    [IMG]

So, at Sears I decided that I wanted a silver and black one that matched the TV BUT the black cased one with the silver drawers only had 4 drawers and I really wanted 5 to hold everything I had planned. I then decided I would buy the solid black one, leave the drawers black and paint the box portion a a grey hammertone finish.

Once home I take the drawers out and proceed to paint the box a number of coats over a couple of days time. Then OldBobSign came over and I told him what I had planned for the drawers. Cutting the fronts off, hinging them at the bottom and placing magnets in the corners to keep the drawer fronts in place till pulled open.

Larry spent hours on the drawers and did a GREAT job. Now the drawers have all my stereo equipment in them and can be accessed easily BUT look nice and tidy when closed. Got one more drawer to do that will house my DVR.

The thin top drawer is perfect for all those remote controls that we all seem to "collect"

It's a fetish I tell ya and I don't know how to stop.

I've had my same bedroom furniture for 29 years now and I'm getting ready to redo my bedroom this winter and I'm seriously considering that Costco stainless toolbox as a dresser:eek:

    I think I need a therapist:rolleyes:

Oh yeah, I still need one for my GARAGE!

  11. I buy the really big Snap- On ones, and use them as rental units. I find the public likes the Snap-On fit and finish much better than the others. I tried the others, but the vacancies were killing my income. I sold them off to my buddies who had ghetto property.

look at this site Denise !
they only have craftsman tool boxes so they all match.
in a lot of colors and every configuration you can think of better price then sears and dropped off at your door.
those costco stainless ones are ugly.

Very cool! When my son moves out of the crib we're planning on using a few in place of a chest of drawers. I think it will suit the little hot rodder theme pretty well.

I did check it out. I got the 5 drawer black one for $109.95. I thought that was a GREAT price. I looked on that site for the same one and I couldn't find it. I do have the Craftmans catalog right here and I realize they have all colors but nothing that suited me. I did purchase something special for my kitchen from that catalog but I'll wait till it's installed before I post about it.:D

Denise stop it...I think am getting a chubby here. I'll bet you have piston ash trays too.

My wife says I can still get a girlfriend and you are at the top of the list.

Can you move to TX? I will buy you two stainless dressers for your side of the room. One for clothes and the other for well those unmentionables like we got into trouble for previously ;).
