Picked up one for a MG over the weekend at a swap meet for $70.00. Its going to be mounted on my inline 6. Should work out great with a little work.

Had one on my MG back in the 70s worked great lots of hp only problem was when idling it would load up with oil from oiler and smoke on exceleration. dont idle for long keep pliping the gas and you well have no problem. make sure you put a iger carb on.

If they were run a long time with no oil, the vane slots in the aluminum rotor get worn out. Looks like an air tool motor with 4 sliding fiber vanes riding in the slots.

The glass bottle oiler is really a "Marvel Mystery Oil-top engine drip oiler" with a Judson sticker placed on it. Marvel sold oilers for years, might find one at a swap, cheap. The oiler has a sight gauge to watch how many drips of oil per minute, and is adjustable.

I can lay claim to owning a Judson blower and glass oil tank about 25 years ago, when I had a 72 Beetle. But it was made for the 69 and earlier heads and intake, with a smaller carb flange. Unfortunately at age 17 I didn't have the means to adapt it on, so I sold the setup to a friend who was playing with the VDubs at the time.

    cheers

  13. There' a guy in CT, and a guy in Belguim, that offer all the bearings, slider vanes, pulleys, etc to rebuild them, I'll see if I can dig up the names and websites of them. The guy in CT is named George Folchi, and the guy in Belguim is Alejandro Martinez, as I recall
I did a story on them for the VW magazine I used to work for, and rebuilt one in the magazine, they are simple as hell to rebuild, and if set up properly, won't overheat the VW engine, and will give it a significant power increase
Judson made them for a myriad of different applications, besides the ones already shown and mentioned.

I tried to find a Judson supercharger for a Volvo B18 with no luck, ended up using a Volvo Penta marine dual carb intake instead.

  15. I have most of one for my TD, I am thinking about running it, but it is one of those "projects"

the MG supercharger is desgined for a 1250cc to 1500 cc or 76.3 cu in to 91.1 cu in (if it is later) engine.

You may end up stiffiling your engine as the supercharger is a probably a little to small.

  16. I bought some parts from George Folchi a few years ago.

I have a willys f 134 that needs a judson. I only need the compressor and oiler. Anyone have one to get rid of? Would need to be adequate for 2.3 liter of so. Engine only spins 4000 tops. Usually 3500.

A used boost gauge just sold for over 600.00 on ebay and today a new in the box gauge pops up and is already over 500.00. George Folchi says he has only seen three for a flathead in fifty years of rebuilding them. My question is what price would you put on one?
It may not work as good as other units but would be very streetable
and rare as hooby horse crap to boot!

  19. I just picked one up for the Volvo B16 engine, with the intension to rebuild it to fit the larger Volvo B18.

Mailed George Folchi about my project (he refitted the one on the red PU in the pics!), and he told me, they did infact build them for the B18 also! He sold a B18-manifold to a guy in Sweden, whom I'm in contact with at the moment, to figure out a price and shipping! Nice to find one so close, when I'm from Denmark! :D

So I ow Mr. Folchi great thanks! :D  :D

So, if things go my way (for a change!), I should be able to put in my banged up 221 Amazon in near future! And If it runs well, I plan to build the engine in a Rod...;)

Pretty sure the vovlo judson fits b18 / b20 .... a supercharger on my 120 has always been its future. Volvo hot rods are a rare treat. The b/18and b20 motors are ripe for all sorts of modifications. Check out IPD in Portland Oregon if you dont already know.... their catalog has a ton of aftermarket classic and performance volvo gear. Their suspension kits are great.

William Haddon "Haddie" Judson passed this past fall, aged 69. Worked with/for his father in Conshohocken,PA as a researcher/developer on the supercharger, as well as the 'magneto' ignition system.

I've traded keys with a few friends who have early VW's...the Judson-equipped cars were pretty quick. Also got to drive an Okrasa-powered Bug and a Hebmuller that ran an early Porche drivetrain. They were a lot of fun!

  23. They do, if you find the correct bottom - B16 and B18/20 mainfolds are not allike...

My thoughts to his family and friends...
