Any of our units that have a problem are covered under warranty, and as far as problems go they are few and far between. Eaxactly what happened with your stuff Slick ; cause you never miss a chance to dog us. No problems but I'd like to know so I could at least defend/re**** against your attacks. P.M. if you want. I'd really like to know. This board is for pleasure and I did'nt post where I worked for a long time, BUT by posting Ihave been able to Help several HAMB'ers with orders and some problems. Our company is like any other there will always be dis-satisfied customers; all I can do is try to make it right. Later

    shane, you got a PM.
you're boss had the chance (twice) to make it right and at the time, you're "warranty" wasn't worth poop....

again, my problem isn't with you....

Hate to say it but it's a little to little a little to late. They've been ****ty to way to many people for to long. Hell they wouldn't make it right on a set of headers for me. They didn't fit a SBC in a Camaro clip even though they were supposed to. Wouldn't take them back and even sent the wrong gaskets. I showed up at Charlotte and showed the dip**** the gaskets, he said "oh?" and at least gave me the correct gaskets. But that's been 4 or 5 years. I actively tell others to stay away from their cheap ****. It's just the facts, you came along a little to late, they have a **** reputation a****st all the guys around here...

Dude for a guy who took 5 weeks to get a set of hubcaps to Greenville I wouldn't chime in too hard (jk). Yeah we had problems in the past , but all you can do is try. As far as the **** rep ALOT of other people give us a try every day, not dismissing your or others problems , but one transaction with yopu and suddenly we seel cheap ****.COme on. Our subframe headers either come from PAtriot or HEDMAN both very reputable companies and both fabbed in The USA. And for what it's worth I thought this was about vega boxes.

yeah I hear ya, I get busy sometimes and slack but whatever... it's not just me, there have been a bunch of problems with their stuff. that was just the one that actaully happened to me. It's been an on going problem. it's been talked about here before and like I said the damage is done(but see the edit below). If you like we can rehash it, just look at any of the A/C threads... You chimed in to defend the company you work for. They sell a lot of sub-grade stuff or don't care if you get the right stuff...

I think maybe you should show your boss these threads and bring it to his attention. I'm not saying that it can't be fixed but they were rude to me on the phone and via email when I had my problem. and there have been a bunch of other guys locally that have had similar experiences, getting the wrong parts and such, iffy quality.

I'm trying to make this more positive than just attacking the company you work for. I originally went to them because they were close.

And the headers I got were before they said Patriot and they sure weren't Hedman or didn't say Hedman. Wouldn't clear the steering box at all.

and yes it was about Vega boxes but somewhere the thread took a turn.

Agreed about showing the owner the thread. I have. My job is to keep things straight NOW. We have had some sub par employees in the far past and the recent past no doubt, but like I said here and to any other HAMB'ers I'll personally tru to make things right. Sub par AC parts, not hardly. Problems yeah we have had some but they all get fixed. As for as local guys up by you, take a trip down . Let's do business face to face. If you don't like the quality tell me why. I know who to talk to to try and remedy problems. That being said I am not the all knowing omni potent one, I am human and have made mistakes of my own no doubt. But in this neighborhood, The HAMB, I try extra hard to keep guys happy. Thanks for the honest reply.

I went back and edited that post a few times so I wouldn't come off as a ****, well not as much of one as possible. I really appreciate what you're trying to do. It's like what vaphead did at VAP and Streamline and it made a difference. All the problems I know of seem to be before you were there. Maybe we can try this again..

  13. I started this thread and I also thought it was about Flaming River Steering Boxes . Yes, I did get diverted off tangent asking where the Southern Rods Vega box was made, but I think a lot of other folks would also like to know that, although we all know quality products can be manufactured in places outside the USA.

It's pretty obvious, from the majority of the comments made on this thread, that the Flaming River Vega st'rg box and their customer service ****S DELUXE. The folks here need to know what other options are available.

The Southern Rods box (which I forgot about), Mullins rebuilds and original GM boxes seem to be all that's available. It's obvious this thread can do nothing but help publicize that Southern Rods has a product to compete in that market place.

Now, with all that being said, this started as my thread. I want to make it very clear to everyone reading that EVERY business transaction I've ever had with Southern Rods & Parts and Southern Air has been a postive and pleasant experience. The owner and staff have always made an extra effort to help me ordering non-stocking product and answering technical questions.

The business owner and many of his employees are real Hot Rodders and drag racers. As I already mentioned, I've ordered one-off items from Southern Rods that nobody stocks or hardly even knew existed. Each time the folks there searched for the correct vendor and got my "stuff" for me. I consider that not just good, but excellent service.

Shane, please share what's said here with your boss so he'll know that Southern Rods & Parts does get + positive + strokes on this forum.

Now, let's continue talking about experiences with Flaming River Steering boxes ;) ;) .

    Thanks,
    Modifieddriver

I'll buy the beer at Charlotte. Thanks for the feedback. So many times all you hear about are the bad experiences, so some positive thoughts are nice. Do'nt get me wrong I know we need to get better, and trust me we try each and every day. Any problems from anybody shoot me a pm or call. I'll do what I can.

Shane thanks for having the balls to step up. Sure F.R. knows about this with no response. Just drew a line thru their name and added Southern Rods.

  16. Beer at Charlotte :D .

    Now I gotta' go :) .

And, as you read, some good for Southern Rods came from this thread.

  17. Will your Borgeson/Saginaw 525 box bolt up to a Vega mounting plate thats welded to the front rail of my 36 Ford?
How much larger is a Saginaw 525 box?

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I figure it was better than starting a new one. I believe my Flaming River Vega box is headed south... Car is a '32 Ford roadster, and has just turned 10k miles, in the past 1000 miles I've had to tighten the box up twice.... and it STILL doesn't seem as tight as it was when it was new. One 200 mile trip seemed to be enough to make it loose as a goose. I'm thinking a replacement is in order. Are there any current alliance vendors that sell a high quality Vega box at a reasonable price? i'd rather not change it, but I have a feeling I'm not going to have much choice.

Bringing up an old thread to see if anything has changed:

What are your experiences with Flaming River's Vega steering boxes?
What about Borgeson's Vega steering boxes?
    Others???

I have a Borgeson-Mullins box in my 32 3 window, 8000 mile and still good. I just put one like it 36 3 window . Didn't buy Flaming River or cheap box from Speedway because of very , very BAD reviews.

Built my roadster with a "rebuilt " Ebay Vega box...Steered ****py ,tight from the git-go... Bought a new Borgeson 140 box...not much more money than others ,but tremendous difference in quality and steering ..
Starting an A coupe project with cross - steering ,so will buy another Borgeson without question....Money well spent

tomslik, you got that right on Southern A/C units. I'm sure that garbage is not USA made. Most likely they are from Nigeria or Kenya. That funky on/off switch takes the cake.
Don't even think about buying anything from CPP that stuff is made in China by small children.

I have to chime in for Borgeson..I bought an power box conversion for an OT [72 Comet] car and it fit and works just slick! They have taken the time to develop so many retro power box kits they deserve an award..
