Heres what I've been up. I'm getting the Burb ready to spray clear coat straight over the bare metal. I'm getting all surface rust off with the lacquer thinner and Scotch Brite pads, then I go over it again with a dry Scotch Brite to get that neat-o sheen.......I think we are going to put a flatener in the clear so that it has a natural satin finish rather than a glossy one. I still have the front to do yet.

Man , that Burb looks tuff with your metal treatment.....you are definitely on the right path as far as I'm concerned.

Cool truck, but what's the point of running the STOCK body bare? I thought people ran bare metal to show off their superior metal-finishing skills after they've customized the body.

If you followed axeman & brewsir's advice, I could see a point in it but like that it just says that you're proud of Detroit's stamping dies.

Is that a taxi sign on your roof?

Here's one that qualifies to run bare.

Killer burb for sure, but one word of advise...
DO expect it to rust underneath the clear coat. Even if you get it all sealed up nice with the clear, within a year or so, you will start to see rust color starting to show up again underneath the clear. If that's ok with you, then go for it, but I just thought I'd let you know what to expect so you are not bummed out a year from now.

Now qualify is a hell of a word. It actually has many different meanings. Here I will list them.

    1. to limit or modify in some way
    2. to make or consider eligible or fit
    3. to issue a certificate or license to

Now I believe you are referring to the second usage in this context here. Basically, you do not feel that the truck in question is condiered eligible to be run in bare metal, but the one you have cited does.

Thus being said, what qualifies you to make such a statement?

Close your eyes and think Black all over. The bare metal is cool, but paint that sucker if it's straight enough for that go black. It does look bitchin' though and your metal skills are impressive.

What qualifies it to be ran in bare metal is the fact that that's how the FUCK I want to run it. The taxi sign is a roof mounted factory air vent from when it was an ambulance in the Army. And yea, I'm very proud of Detroits stamping dies, thats why it isn't getting chopped.

    Anymore well thought out questions?

Picking fights on the internet and falling for the pick both qualifies as bad judgment in my opinion... I cleaned this thread up a tad and left the opinions?

Mine? I'd paint it... But it's not my sub...
