I liked it. The trailers were good too.
Can't wait for Blacksheep. I usually don't like horror movies but this looks fuckin funny.

Our Wally World has the movie packaged with a second movie i've never heard of called Unknown (ironic,huh?). It has several TV stars in it. I thought Deathproof was really cool!!! Can't wait to see how they package Planet Terror next month.

Never realized the thing with the Challenger's doors, I just knew some thing was weird.

I started to watch the extras, especialy the cars of deathproof part, but I got sick of hearing Tarantino drone on and on. He says how in some chases, you root for people getting chased, and some times great chases have them become the ones who do the chasing. I usually subscirbe to that, but man the second set of chics just set me wrong. Aside from Zoe Bell (Kiwi stunt chic), I really wanted Stuntman Mike to kill those women. Or shot them in the mouth with a sock cannon.

I wanted to see them bring back the Challenger to the redneck and watch him go Deliverance on their asses.

Oh, and I love old syles, but I don't think I could handle ol' school muff. Makes me think that a chics got Gene Shalit in a leg lock.

 

that was some funny shit. Bunch of people that don't pay attention to ads blatantly stating "2 movies for the price of 1" and walking out after the credits for Planet terror start rolling. F**king momos. Haha!

 

Yep. All these movies lately of "tough chicks", Kill Bill, etc. One good pimp-slap would send them squealing back to the kitchen where they belong.

I really enjoyed it, but there is just too many mistakes that have to be pointed out.

-doorframes on the challenger
-parking lights on in one scene, cut to the next and the headlights are on
-car gets hit and obvioulsly goes into a spin but next scene just wiggles and continues straight
-huge ass shackles on the leafs of the charger when the arse end got crumpled.

The directors should have a real car buff watch the movie before they are done editing to point out all the real obvious flaws before releasing it.

 

I believe part of the intent was to purposely emulate the films of this genre back in the 70s; scenes getting cut short, lots of in-continuity, for example, the Challenger in Vanishing Point turned into a Camaro when it hit the bulldozers, etc., etc.

The ironic thing was Zoe starring, not just doing stunts; you could often spot the stunt doubles in the old flicks, but then, McQueen did some of his own stuff back then, so six of one, half dozen of another.

 

He's not mocking the genre.....he's paying TRIBUTE.......big difference....

Too much jive-talkin' females in the beginning, and I just don't understand why Mikey turned into a giant pussy and turned tail instead of killing those girls in the Challenger. Just didn't seem right.

He should have killed 'em all, except maybe Zoe, so she could go back the Mustang and had a final chase where they wrecked that thing too.

Just my thoughts. I liked the movie a lot, but then I again, I've owned a handful of '68-69 Chargers and currently own a '70 Challenger.

I thought it was decent,,,the diner-scene dialog didn't touch Reservior Dogs, but the chase scenes and the crashes were damn good. It sure seemed like a lot of waiting for only 20 minutes of action, though,,,,that gets old.

Terantino's still doing better than most...I especially liked Plump Friction.

And I do likes me a strawberry flavored hoo hoo.

that is classic cheesy tv and movie stuff. think back. dr smith was a real bad guy in the first lost in space show but then he went wimpy and gay. same with rosco on the dukes of hazard. tarantino probably noticed that to.

 

I thought the vanishing point challenger had a hemi????? not a 440.... All the crying about the mopars.......nobody cared about the nova??? 68-72 nova are my favorite muscle cars. I got a ragged 69 I was thinking about flat blacking and putting a skull in the hood lol. Anyhow I downloaded the soundtrack... coolest version of stager lee I ever heard.

 

I also remember hearing some dudes bitching about "that ugly aussie girl.." outside the theater. Ugly? Aussie? WTF? I don't know about you guys, but I think Zoe was sexy as hell. Maybe its the accent?

 

Endless annoying, unnecessary and uninteresting dialogue egotiscically written to show off how smart the writer is, where everyone clips off the last second of the previous speaker: CHECK!

The car scenes did rock though. The zombie movie was FAR better in every way. In fact, the fake previews were FAR better than Deathproof. The overall idea of the double feature was brilliant. I hope we see more, but not from Quentin Tarantino.

I'm not sure how Hollywood lets someone continually make movies because they made one 20 years ago that was pretty good.

Watched this last night (rented it from Blockbuster On-line).

What a total waste of time and piece of crap...just my two cents.

But I would like to know how she was holding on during some of those scenes...that was freaking nuts.

 

I watched this movie last night. I dug the visual style. The story...was there a story? I don't recall seeing or figuring out a story. The car chases were ok. The end of the first chase was great. The end of the second chase was some come-upance. But the overall chase was kinda lame in my opinion. I expected more. Maybe that's why I felt let down.

Definitely worth a rent.

 

I thought it was rad...everything that people are complaining about is what made it the perfect film...he accomplished exactly what he set out to do...it's SUPPOSED to be a B movie! wasn't supposed to be anything else...movies aren't meant to be reality...
