I brought the new car home from Oklahoma yesterday. I am in the process of building up an engine for it now. I need to put new motor mounts and scattershield. It will be called the Pattiepie special in honor of my wife who is encouraging me on this quest. I guess she figures that if I going racing I won't have a senior moment and chase a 25 year old blonde.:D I have 2 GMC engines a 270 and a 302, I am finding out that there are a scarcity of parts for these engines. Also I'm going to join the Alliance if I can figure out how to do it. So I guess that my winter will be spent in the shop building.:) Roy

I am assuming that you bought the slant six chassis that is the World Champ for this year?
I'm glad someone bought it and look forward to seeing it next year at the HAMB drags.

    Roy,

I'm in Kansas City so we're close. If theres anything I can do to help just let me know. Are you going to build the 302?

Well it is good to begin this project. I've been excited about this for months and now it is going ahead. I met Shawn and bought the reigning HAMB champion chassis. I plan on running the 302 GMC engine with the 270 as a backup engine. I ordered a cam for it last night. It is hard to find things for these GMC engines. Like lifters, I am going to send these away to be resurfaced, you can't buy lifters for these engines. Although with the cheap lifters that are being offered today it is just as well. I am going to change a few things in the cockpit so I have a little more room. I plan on going to KC soon to see Ron's stuff and seeing what mysteries he has hidden in his set up. The head has the smallest ports, I'm used to big V-8 ports so these look like pea shooters instead of ports. It is going to be difficult to get a lot of air into this engine. :( Roy

Congrats! That little car will work very well for you especially with the jimmy. It drives straight as a string,Good Luck.

    Roy,

Are you sure you wouldn't rather run a little 225 inch slant 6? I know I'd feel a lot more secure when we meet at the strip. With your background in racing, and sitting behind a big Jimmy, your going to be a serious competitor.

Seriously, I'm looking forward to seeing you in Kansas City. I'll show you how to get some serious airflow out of the 302 head (983 casting)
