This sounds like a good idea, I wish I would have thought of it.

Kirk-Speaking of driving, are you and Ryan still going to try to do the States side part of the Great Race next year?

Saw Zach ( ford pick-up ), Malcolm, Hiboy 32 (Jeff ) and Big Otis all tearin it up at Americruise this year on the road course, while most of the street rod and muscle car guys stood around and watched. It was awesome. They all got coverage in the the latest R/C Thanks to R&C Lee.
No disrespect meant Kirk just haven't had the oppertunity to see one at a GG's event yet, but it will certainly fuel the fire for wanting to go to another GG's show. NIce job. Gary

No i wasnt knockin the guy by any means. modular, pushrod, injected, carb, it doesnt matter to me its all cool. i will build anything and everything i can get my hands on. i saw it at the drags he runs the balls off of that truck and clearly from the picture he doesnt back down to anything. I dont like to stick to the common by any means, so what he did was cool to me. It was a joke, all in good fun.

I've been thinking hard about taking my wore out stock suspension F-1 through the cones at Texas. Just not sure how much I want to abuse myself. Maybe I'll go practice at the free hangout at the grocery store parking lot. :D I'll probably end up doing it, slow of course. I know my buddy with a '55 Chevy says he's going to tear it up, but I think he will tear up the cones. :D See you guys at Texas....

Yep. You can walk without shoes or clothes, so it's a fairly affordable pastime.

  16. I have some Hooiser R4S04's setting around that I can get mounted up for the 49' if that comes around here.

Kirk, you owe me a new keyboard. I just sprayed Dr. Pepper through my nose after reading that! Although, I hear walking is getting pretty expensive, with the new high tech shoes and fancy socks . . . .

So if I don't want to spend $60 for your event I should get out of the hobby and walk...... That's pretty ****ed up logic.

Guarenteed I will never attend one of your events again.

First of all it's not MY event. Yes, I work for Goodguys, and yes, I am constantly trying to make the things that Goodguys does more interesting to guys like me - traditional hot rodders.

To answer your question...nope, you don't need to get out of the hobby because you don't want to spend $60 for a weekend full of stuff to do, but you also shouldn't whine about it in a public forum and then be offended when someone has a different opinion. The point is that $60 is a very fair price for what you get, if you are into what Goodguys offers (if you're not, that's just fine, but it's not Goodguys' fault that you don't want to spend $60). The walking reference was meant to be funny, just like the rest of the readers understood it to be.

Movies are $10 per person and easily another $20 for two people to have food. That's $40 for two people for two hours, if you didn't have to pay to park. Is that a better deal? Concert tickets to popular bands usually start at $60 each, football games are over $100 per person, a good meal at a nice restaurant is $20 each. The list of the price of entertainment goes on and on.

It gets old that people have to get on here and complain about $60 for 30 hours of entertainment and participation. ****, people whine about paying $5 to walk into Billetproof, so I'm not sure what the ****ing deal is with some people.

What good does the whining do? Just stay home.

Used to do this in the early '70's with a T-bucket at the NSRA events. They had two cl***es, full fendered and fenderless. The course was very tight, there was usually a "Garage" you had to go into and get turned around and come out forward and a "Star" that you had to start in the center and circle each of the 5 points. It was a blast. Still have the trophy for winning one at Waco in 1972 I think. Like all forms of racing, someone showed up with a purpose built car at the nationals that turned so sharp it could turn around in the garage without backing up. Sure they stopped it because of liability reasons. Never did tear up anything. Would I do it again, you bet.

What?! It happened before Goodguys did it?!?! It's not an original idea?

    Inside joke. Sorry.

The bottom line is that it's a blast!

I agree. Hell, people pay the Richard Petty Experience guys $99 for three laps in their p***enger seat ALL DAY LONG at the speedway events like Charlotte.

Full size pickups and hot rods autocrossing, that's awesome. It's got to be worth $60 just to watch. Exactly when and where is this happening? I gotta go (won't be driving as I all I have is a pile of parts at this point)

oh wow. this is a funny thread. i guess i can't talk from a hamber's point of view. even though most of the people i run into from the board are top notch, i'll never make it into the club i guess. (ryan kicks me off everytime i get close to 30 posts) i can't count the times i've been called a poser by the "buddy groups", had threads deleted for not going with the 20 post a day'ers, and even been accused of being into mini trucks.

i guess we do it a little different in omaha. there is a small group of us (a couple road burners, ex-road burners, hood ratz, and south omaha turds) that may not have a bunch of posts, and don't always fit in on the hamb, but we LIVE to build, drive, and beat on our cars. run the cones!?? that's just a highlight of the summer for us. highboy 32 is part of that group. we pulled the flatty out of his 32 wednesday night and i threw one last orange cone at the windshield before we tore it apart.
i'm with you malcolm (another one of the omaha-elite) how did i know zach with the unibody would get slammed on this board. some people just don't get it. well i'm here to say, zach may not be a hamber, but he fits right in with us! keep y'er ****s in the lawnchairs and talkin about what's "old school" and "correct", it gives us more track time!
