  2. Yo Ryan, those look great. I know a Model A coupe that wants you to draw it.

  3. "I can say I’ve been a fan of your work since i saw the Lords of Acid cover and even with a computer I don’t know if I can achieve your perfection"

Damn, I used to rock that to death. Now with kids and Christ in my life, I just can't do it anymore, but those are some really wicked beats.

meteor Those paintings are really cool. Do you have any repros of those that you are selling?
COOP666 Painting looks really good. I agree that computers are taking a bit of that "raw feel" out of a lot of art work. I know that I am mostly using illustrator now and I find myself trying to replicate a distressed effect on my work. Buy anyways, the painting looks really good.
As for everybody else, it's another great week. Everybody on this site always pushes me to new levels.

Here's one I dug out of my RETRO ART file. I think I did this one in 1982. I wound up donating it
for a prize at a car show. Just want to say thanks to all the artists on here for bringing me back
to the art that I love. Thanks for the compliments also.

Don't worry, I wasn't insulted. but i was curious to know just what you meant.

I get what you're saying, and I agree to a certain extent. However, when I transfer a small image I've drawn to a large canvas, I always find myself making adjustments and changes along the way, as the change in scale will sometimes make images look a little screwy without that adjustment. Also the projector never gives a clean perfect image, so there is a lot of interprtation going on, especially when you are painting directly over the image, with no preliminary guides.

I love painting precisely because I've already made all the left-brain decisions by the time i get to the canvas, and I can go all right-brain and just dig on the application of paint and wrestling with the brush. It's a very zen thing, and kinda how I imagine pinstripers feel when they get into a groove throwing down those beautiful perfect lines.

  18. Yeah, I know what you mean; it's that stage in painting where you find yourself transcending all space and time...

As far as using the computer to do your art, I leave that to people that can do it. I don't even want to start learning all that. I can see where I could use it, but it's not me. I would use a projector if it was something really big. I find that when you don't use guides and templates, you have to take a deep breath, have some steady nerves to get a ink line straight. Almost like pinstriping. Thats why I don't mind shakey lines sometimes, looks more human like you say. With that said, I marvel at computer art and how perfect it can be.
I personally draw everything by hand , and sometimes trace a drawing I already did. But I don't like too. It's like music and the first take or recording. It's usually the best because all the original energy ain't been sucked out yet. I will throw things in the pile if I can't improve on the original "energy".
Heres a bunch of one-offs, from the pile. Everything from nakid women to the amazing belt drive motorcycle powered modified!:D
A really good art show, I'm just sittin down to it......

...nuthin' new from me this week...but this is my brother's work. He got 85% of the artistic talent in the family.. the other 3 of us each got 5%. It's a tiny watercolor { i think} 'bout 4" X 6" that he did for an outhouse calendar. I own the original .

I thought I'd chime in on this one. I do most of my work in Photoshop (but it's just the tool I'm most comfortable with) You still have to have the idea. I generally like to flesh out the idea in sketch form, scan it in and the use it as a roadmap and less of a template. The computer frees me up to take an idea in any direction I prefer. Trust me, there are still 'happy accidents'. This is where I started:

Wow I used to fly that model 8 a lot. Last time I layed eyes on it it was tooling across the Az desert and I was in formation along side in mine, 1571K. Aviation is such a small world!
