170 six cylinder with the two speed auto. Lowered and some mods done by previous owner. Plan on some wider whites and red wheels with baby moons and some satin black paint. Should be a cool cruiser and something to hang out at the shows with.

it sounds like ur gonna do what my dad wanted to do to his (now mine), 1963 ranchero.

honest opinion though, red rims are gettin kinda old, but if u slap the moon discs on there they do make a difference. my dad had them on there until he sold the discs for some extra cash

nice ride though, i'd keep it that color if i were you, looks nicer and smoother, and damn i dig those tailights, did u get the car like that or what?

Yeah, got the car that way but plan on doing some of my own work to it and "make it mine". I like the way it looks though, kid that did the work got it when he was fourteen and traded it for a truck a month ago when he was seventeen, looks like he can do some good work.

Oh, nice Ranchero too by the way. I had a 1976, not nearly as cool but still neat. See a lot of ElCaminos but not many Rancheros around here.

Garvin, nice falcon dude, but honestly, i'd stick with the black wheels, just find a set of 4 lug spider caps at the swap meet or ebay, and wheelkid repops the chrome cal custom trim ring that goes around them and your wheels would POP! the thin whites fit that car perfect i think, thats all i've ever run on any of my falcons/rancheros in the past, only falcon i've liked the wide whites on are RickyRacers ranchero. keep posting progress pics lots of falcon guys on here. here's a pic of my daily..

Nice ride. The color it is would be cool with the mods you have planned. I'd leave it. Maybe get some pin striping layed on it to make it stand out.

  10. It's interesting that the windshield and back window stainless trim is blacked out. I wonder if it's in good shape underneath.

I like your idea but dont think a four door gasser would look right.

Falcons are great little cars. With gas prices soaring they make an inexpensive cruiser that turns heads if done well. They are the perfect "basic car" easy to work on , no frilly shit. Parts are plentiful.
They will only get more popular and desirable. The powerplants (144-170)
are kind of anemic, but respond well to hop up. The biggest problem is the cast intake/head combination. This can be overcome.
Yours looks great. The only thing I'd change are those "Madonna-ish" taillights.

LOL I am kind of up in the air about the taillights. They are kind of cool but kind of goofy at the same time, I am kind of goofy also so maybe I will stick with them!

I'd suggest doing what I did... I had a '65 sedan... Picked up a '78 Granada for $350... swapped the rear end, front brakes and engine trans into the car... It drove like a dream.... torquey 250 cid six, disc brakes, heavy duty rear with highway gearing... And was done CHEAP.

I eventually went to a 302. But the everything but the engine mounts was ready for the swap.

Clean ride. A piston would look good as an aircleaner. Or a chromed stock unit. Those mini helmet number's you see on the multi carb engine's would look right at home on your thrifty six.

That is the factory grille for the US. Do you have a pic of the Aussie grille? I would like to see it.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions everybody!

As most everyone has said I too like your car. The grey primer looks pretty cool and I also like the tire and wheels or those tires and some Astro Supremes like that little Falcon Ranchero.
Maybe I'll see ya at a cruise night before the season ends or next year as I'm moving to Bridgeport, Ohio soon.

I like the car and would also skip the red/black color scheme. The colors are just a little overdone.

How about a satin silver blue or silver green car and wheels with chrome spyder caps on the lugs?? I think satin pearl orange with white or bone tuck and roll would be pretty cool too. Just some ideas.

The Ranchero with Astros and pinstripe whites is awesome.

Nice. I like those early Falcons very much, was looking for one some years ago. Would like to have one as my daily driver...
I like your car as it is now, maybe some pinstriping would be a nice touch?
