Deuce 3 window dies

Friday Sept. 28 at 7:15 a.m. a good friend of mine Rodger Bell was dropping off his grandson at a local High School in his 32 Ford.
When a woman in a Impala rear ended him pushing him into a city
utlity truck, causing everthing to catch on fire.

Luckly, Rodger and his grandson were pulled out of the car before the explosion. Grandson was released from the hospital on saturday and Rodger is hoping to be released in the next few days.


Rodger has had this car for over thirty years. So losing this car is like losing a family member.

It's been a low weekend for me worring about my good friend,

Damn, sorry to hear about your friend and his grandson. Both are in my thought's and prayers..
Really suck's about the deuce, especially with the history behind it..
But car's can be rebuilt or replaced..life can't.

That`s sad news ! I`m glad they lived . I don`t know what I would do if I lost mine It`s been my family for 28 years ?

good to hear they are ok. i feel his pain for the loss of the 32. i was hit last week in my Track Roadster and even though not a total loss somehow feel violated.

 

Must be a full moon! Guys are getting hit,right and left,WTF!!!

My body guy fixed it ... and you cannot tell it was ever hurt ... inside or out



But I do worry about that stuff now ...
I still drive the 32 Roadster and will drive the 32 3W ... when it is finished ... BUT ... I do worry about it ...

 

I thank whoever it was who pulled them out....they're heros in my book!

I hope for a speedy recovery. The loss of the car is a heartbreaker, but not nearly as bad as losing a friend would be.

 

Thats not the point, if that idiot that hit you had been paying attention it wouldnt have happend to begin with. If these morons really feel the need to hit something go find a Honda, Suburban or a brick wall and leave the cool old stuff alone. I really feel like punching some one right now.

 

I see in the article on the crash they refer to the 32 as an antique car.

Good to hear they are on the mend.

 

Glad all are Ok but obviously I'm sad about the loss of his 32. I bet an insurance agent or two are going to get a shock when they realise how much the "antique" was worth.

 

lets hope there is insurance or Grandad is going to have to Sue the clown who liberace'd him.

 

That really sucks but it could have been MUCH worse. What did he have for a fuel tank??

It won't help. They can't see past their hood anyway, and since they were probably on the cell phone, they were thinking about getting a gallon of milk for the fridge or something...

 

I thank God that they are going to be ok.

As far as insurance goes they'll only get what was agreed to on their policy. Hopefully they had the right dollar amount in there to build another one. There's no amount of money to replace the memories or good feelings they've gotten from the car being part of their lives for so long.

Some things to remember, I guess are:
1. Make sure you have seat belts and wear them;
2. Make sure your brakes work really well;
3. Make sure you brake/turn signal lights work and are bright enough;
4. Make sure you have enough insurance to cover a rebuild of whatever your car type/make is. I have about $12K on my Nash which is plenty to rebuild it. That's barely enough to buy a complete frame and suspension for a 32!!
5. There are a LOT of people on the road that don't have a clue about old cars and how different they are to operate. Keep lots of distance between you and every other car out there. Trust no one's ability to drive!

As much as it pains, the Deuce is replaceable.....the occupants arn't, so it's a relief that they both got out.

Was thinking the same thing. As much as I like the traditional look of the exposed OEM style tank on a 32, the fear of being rear-ended means it's not something I will do on mine when the time comes.
I always had the intention of having a foam filled racing tank in the trunk area complete with a firewall.

 

Goes to show, your life can change in an instant. Thank goodness all are ok.

 

Hate to hear of a car with such a history have to go but atleast he and his grandson are going to be ok. Prayers for speedy recovery on its way.

 

I checked on Rodger's condition today, off pain medication but still feeling nauesa. Trying to figure out what is causin it.

to answer your question 34 Ford tk, car was using a stock 32 fuel tank. Sorry about the slow reply.

 

Glad to hear he is feeling better, I was afraid that was the type of tank when I saw the car burned. Any pics of whats left of it??

 

I think I'd still be naseous too! Glad to hear they're alright, though...
