Someone sent me this, and it got my wheels turning. The truck has a 7 foot bed on it now and i've been totally against stubbing it up until I saw this photochop. By the way....the truck is far from finished....still have to finish the rear window, put headlights on it, put seats in it, finish the doors, and plumb and wire it.

The bed will have a full floor in it with built in wheelhoops to haul bikes, so the full length bed is pretty much mandatory. I could take a foot out though.......what do y'all think??

I know I'm really askin for it, but I'm thick skinned hahaha.

Shorten it. And by the way, I told you so....

  6. I'd center the axle in the bed, after shortening it.

It DOES look really goofy - throws the proportions off. WHo the heck are the 6 cats that voted to keep it extra long!?

Shortening the bed is an improvement, but not much.

Shorten it. Proportions are way off. Put the tops of the doors back in, at least stitch weld the cab split over the rear window. The chassis on that thing looks like you took a lot of time to do it right. Might as well treat the body to the same.

  11. I'd shorten it and center the axle, but then somebody's gonna call it a BOBBER!

You could put your wheel hoops in the tailgate and have it flip up with hydraulics when you're hauling bikes (after shortening it and centering the axle in the bed).

    Hope that makes sense...

    I'd lengthen it about 18".

Then I'd paint the wheels red & treat it to a coat of Matt Black.

  16. Lengthen it and add a 2nd axle Scott....then you can register it as a big rig, and build an enclosed 40 foot trailer for your bikes. ;)

Or...If it were mine, I'd take a foot outta it!

    I'd shorten it...

    About 16 feet

    Or I'd section it...

    About 4 feet

ok.. I like long beds... but sheesh, this one looks like shit. Sorry, don't mean to be rude, but it does. Needs something different. First I'd cover the sides of the outside of that bed... smooth em somehow. Then... put some fenders on the rear wheels. Not the front, leave it a rod, but cover those rears, it looks stupid imho. Either that, or shorten the shit outta it, keep em open, and it'll be a "bobber", but you won't fit any bikes in it without the tailgate open. I'd say wood floor the bed, bump it over the axle like the "lowrider" croud, but keep it wood to keep it old school.

Any other suggestions? I dunno, just thinkin.

ps.. idea's are like buttholes, everybodies got one.

Why even have a bed? The bikes would have to sit on top of the damn thing anyway what with the way you built the chassis.

I'd shorten the bed a good 3 feet, then center the rear in the bed, and add a trailer hitch for the bikes.....the front is too long too. IMHO.

hahahahaha!! yes, I know. I had to see it for myself though.

I did get "best traditional in-progress hotrod" with it at the Hotrod Revoloution though, so it can't be too bad hahaha. (yes, I know its not traditional)

    Hows your truck coming?

Shorten the bed, and build a trailer for the bikes out of another truck bed......But then it would look like every onther "bobber" truck!

that dual axle comment is pretty interesting too though...It would be pretty different.

and just think you would be able to say "my rod is longer than yours!"

  22. That would actually be kinda cool if the axles were centered in the bed...

scotty-- i actually remember in the shop telling you that i liked the long bed, and not to shorten it.

however, when i see this photochop-- it looks way better shortened in the rear like in the picture.

    i'd shorten it.

also, some more opinion-- i think your rear tail light looks a tad disruptive with where its at and its size. if you're really into safety, i'd say it in the right spot, standing out. however, i know you better :D

to the other fucks that are talking shit.... i've seen this pickup in person, and i really dig it.

Slowly. New pics up in a few minutes. I'm just pissed that you got yours out first. For the record, I started a year earlier! That is the way to go with the grille. I have plans for custom hood sides to make it look finished.

I think the rear radius on the bodylines combined with the radius of the tire confuses the eye. A tonneau cover would help streamline it as well.

Take the material from the front of the bed. That is a 3/4 or 1 ton bed, thus the extra capacity. The extra stake pocket would be a target as well.

read the post again. I'm well aware of the unfinished stuff hahaha.

the truck will most likely be repainted (keeping the USAF markings) and at the very least will have some pretty metalwork. I've been leaning toward shortening it since I put the bed on....I just needed a little shove to get me off the fence.
