Here's my new and next project. Glad to see the Econolines are ok here at The Hamb. This one's kind of rare for a Ford. It's called a "4 Door Panel". It doesn't have any side doors and no side or rear windows, special order for a fire dept. I have no idea why, but I love it.

I'm in the process of finding a 302 and planning all the custom mods now. It will have to have my Matco Tools Logo on the sides but everything else is up in the air.

Lots of body work for now, but suggestions, thoughts and photoshops on future mods are welcome?

Which engine is in that van of yours? Mine has a 170 and the middle crossmember isn't the same as the bigger 6 cyl motors crossmembers. I'll take and post some pics later today if you need to see the smaller 6 setup. Let me know.

Mine has the small 170 motor as well and it's a truck.
There's no need for pics now because he switched around the correct way and now it's fine:)

    thanks.

Well, my son has been looking at pics of old vans, and has found a 70's style he wants to reproduce. Does anyone know if they still make the fake zoomie sidepipes? The kid really loves the look, and with the fake lakes pipes and cutouts being put on cars today, I can't really tell him fake zoomies are worse.

Nice thread, I like those old Econolines in some kind of way, and this one shows that it is actually possible to make them look really nice. They look way better than Greenbriers, A100s, FC Willyses and so on, but that is just my opinion.

i've gotten a little further on mine. it still sits about a foot too high, but it's getting better. These things are a blast to drive:

Anyone got any advise on a very loose/worn steering box for a '65 Econoline truck?

Can you buy replacements anywhere or rebuilds on steering boxes?

any info or leads will be much appreciated:)

Here's a 11 X 14 canvas painting i just finished the other night (i posted this in the last art show, but i thought this thread might dig it as well).

This pic was taken a couple of weeks ago under mach up phase. I had planned to go with a dropped axle and flip the rear. Once we got it here...we didnt see a lot of clearance and couldnt resist to go even lower. So we are in the process of baggin it..(gasp)

My friend is making a four link for front and back using the existing suspension mounts. So, theroetically, we could unbolt and bring it back to stock.

We'll see. The Front is done, so I need to do the back tomorrow. Got my all the bags in but Im waiting for (6)valves. I love the stance. I will post how we did the thing when were finished. Oh, egayed a 1964 Shlitz 7 gal keg for the airtank.

    Viva Econoline!

Please tell me more about the 4 link up front? I'd love to drop my Econoline Van as low as possible as well. I didn't know you could do a 4 link in the front??? but I am new to the suspension thingy and air bags. How do you expect that to ride set up like that?

I wish i could go lower on mine, but because of tire size and minimal clearance, the tires would rub on the fender wells:(

    Looks great Rev106!

    keep us posted:)

I have some bumber work going on that i think you guys will dig by a friend of mine, i'll post some picks when it's finished.

doing a new tubed bumber design for both the front and the rear.

    cheers,
    CAB

Thanks! I'm not planning on lowering mine as you well know it's not easy and I use mine as my work truck so I have to pile tons of bicycles in the back.

  30. I know its not an e line, but still way cool
