if it was mine i would try and build it just like the TOON one. cool, cool, cool. but thats just me. thanks for sharing.
I don't have the latest Rod & Custom with me, but didn't I see a little blurb about Dave Shuten getting two more old show rods in his shop getting restored? I thought that one kinda looked like the Pie Wagon.
Yeah.its the same one,it almost got away it was only 200 yards from my house for the last 3 years and I didnt even know it.it was sitting behind his shop until about 3 months ago when he finnished the body work, glad I got it,I woulda been pissed if I found out this one got away I sent Tom Daneils a email no answer yet...I will cut in a back door the battery & gas tank will fit in a space under rear deck behind driver.....Who is dave shulten????
Kool score...There was one similar to yours just not with the front section grafted that was around where i live for years...The last i saw it it was pushed back in a garage and covered with sh!t but rumor has it its still there. I use to peak in that guys garage as a kid all the time just to stare at it....If i remember right (cause its been mad years now..) it was a pearl white & purple/lavender flake fade...I've always loved these style of cars..Def. keep us posted on the build..
Dave SHuten is restoring the "Ice Truck" right now and will be doing the "Milk truck" when he gets that done. They are both "C" Cab style show rods built by Dan Woods.
The rear half looks strikingly similar to a C cab built in the UK in the seventies, 'Revenge'. One of my all time favourite cars:
KOOL!.the Milk wagon sold about a year ago on ebay.....How do I find Dave Shuten? is he on the HAMB?......I plan on keepin the 60s show rod look alive in this........only differance is I'll drive the damn thing Hey Morrisman there is a twin to that here in tucson for sale! talk to metalshapes he's seen it in the last week or so
How did I know that you would buy something with the word "PIE" in it. I guess you will need to put a trailer hitch on it to tow the camper behind it and have a "PIE PARTY"
???? I think tom nailed it. Anything else would be plain wrong... Unless it involves Cragars and superchargers.
ya got that right....15x15 cragars would be KOOL...metalshapes is helpin me trace down the orig. style headlites now.the only thing I didnt like or would not seem to work was that damn lantern on the rear.if ya look at the 1968 box and the 1997 box you will see the 68 is more real world not as a severe rake.even driveable.....
I'm sure we can find the right tires for it. They are making Goodyears for vintage CanAm racers, etc...
You know, I have a set of NOS Firestone 6.00-16.00/15's with tubes... That's a 16-inch wide tire with a 6-inch sidewall. You would need to find a set of 15x15 or 16x15 Cragars.... Mine are new, still have the nubs on them and have never been mounted.... be perfect for a showrod....
found this..... check out the CAR CRAFT...... looks very similar.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=211718
I was once eating pie, in a wagon until I got arrested. What a score. Richard D, you couldn't afford it, Natty Lite drinker!
How about 3 grand ($3,000.00) does that sway yer interest in selling it to me??????? gotta start someplace, I'm done restoring Roth's Druid Princess and almost done with my Roth Outlaw clone gotta start thinking about the next show rod! FRITZ
I ate a Eskimo Pie last week, I didn't really want to but we started rubbing noses and you know how things get out of hand. Make a mold off that thing and sell us some copies!!
Thanks for the offer...I think Im going to give this a shot,Ive gotta lot of good friends here that want me to see this thru,Plus this is the frist project in years Im really stoked about, so I think Im going for it I really wish I could talk to Tom Daniel about any issues around this car (copyright).I will say if things change it will be offered to you guys first it would be great to see it along side some of the other showrods built by you all.........that is alot of what is driving me to do this....if anybody has seen this body finnished please let me know,or a good contact number for Tom Daniel again thanks alot for the feedback
You can usually hit him off of his website. He's usually been good about responding in the past. One word though, he'll pop you for adding an s to the end of his name. Or email Dave at the showrods website... he originally built Tom's website and has remained in contact with him. I do know Tom was sensitive about his trademark stuff though... it would be polite to ask him for his thoughts. Personally, I've been a showrod fan for a very long time, and I've never seen or even heard about a full size Pie Wagon. i'd be curious to learn the history of the body. Who, What, and When?
Kent, you need to keep it, you need to build it, you need to drive it! I second the purple metalflake idea!
