  2. What a family.....

Vagabonds, Kropdusters, Suedes... then you add the locals - Blacktop Barons, VK, Missfires, the IIBB, all the Indy guys... and ALL of the other volunteers.... what a*****ing family indeed.

Thanks for all you guys did to help the Czars and me pull it off. High Fives all around.

And although I never say it... thanks to the Chrome Czars for being my brothers. A gal couldn't ask for more. Who needs Boston?

I'm still in shock a bit at the greatness of this year's show compared to last year. I'm blown away by all the volunteers who jump in and get the job done. We can't say thank you enough. We're just 7 guys who facilitate the whole thing. Without all the love and support from the hot rod community, we probably could not pull it off at all. Thanks to all our wives and g/fs who busted their****es right along side us all day. Thanks to all the clubs that help out. Thanks to all the non club guys too. DW is such a HUGE****et to the show. And we are all greatful to her.

One of the highlights for me was hangin' with Keith Weezner. So cool.

During the day I had like 10 people walk up to me and they would simply say "Did you see it?" to which I would reply "I'm trying to get back there now!" ...when I finally made my way all the way to the back to see purple '36 cabriolet up close, it was like a religious experience. Unbelievable.

The foot drag race Saturday night was pretty funny.

Thanks to everyone who came to see the Hucksters play and bought a cd. I've not quite gotten used to the fact that we have "fans" beyond our closest friends who always come to see us just because. It's cool to see people so excited about what we do. THANK YOU! I've been in several bands over the years, but the Hucksters are something special I think. To me anyway. Brothers.

Kevin and I kinda have double duty with the HRCC booth too. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and showed their support or even just to say hello. Thanks to everyone at the shop for stepping up, especially Jerry and Kathy, Megan and Libby.

And thanks to my fellow Czar brothers for everything.

We'll all get together to reflect and figure out what we can do to keep things running smoothly and make it better for next year.

I'm amazed at the growth this year.

This stuck out to me and I couldn't agree more. Thanks to everyone who makes this show happen and to all the great rides year in and year out that always make the trip. For us half of the fun is driving our cars there, with the other half seeing all our friends, other peoples killer rides, getting possibly some new inspiration for winter projects, etc... See you all in 08.

    Amen, Rev. Magnet! Amen!

I woke up this morning and my first thought was "Did the Pileup happen yet?" What a whirlwind weekend! I didn't stop moving from noon on Friday through about 2 on Sunday when I finally got home.

Thanks again to everyone who helped. I want to offer an apology to the MissFires Car Club. They were a HUGE help before and during the Pileup, but I forgot to mention them by name. Chicago's newest, and as far as I know, ONLY all girl car club that actually owns, drives and wrenches on their own cars... and I forgot them. Thanks to the Vagabonds and Kropdusters, too... epsecially to the Kropdusters who somehow managed to help, yet stay drunk AND vertical ALL weekend! Thanks to my wife, Elizabeth, who helped out despite not having a car this year, but was instead carrying 2 new, identical creations inside her.

I also want to thank everyone for attending. I have no idea how many people we had, but I think we nearly sold out every hotel withing a 50 mile radius. You know what the coolest thing is? All those crazy, tattooed, hot rod greasers, all that beer, all that excitement... and I haven't heard about a single fight, altercation, or nuthin'. To quote Evel around noon on Saturday "I love Midwest shows. If this were a West Coast show, there would've been 3 stabbings already" There were so few problems taht I don't think the cops even bothered showing up for work! I saw 2 cops downtown on Friday. 1 drove past all the illegal parked hot rods and kept on going. They didn't even notice the 3-way flame throwing contest in the middle of the intersection that went on for a half hour!

YOU are the people that make the Pileup what it is. Thanks.

Crap. You sleep in on your day (finally) off, and everybody says what you wanted to. :) Amen Magnet, Django, Lucky, 'Fish. I can't believe it's all over. When anyone commented to me on Saturday Night or at the Lyons show on Sunday thanking us (Chrome Czars) for the show, I always answered with the question, "Did you enjoy yourself? (Yep!) Great, that's what we aimed for. For everyone to have the best time they could. The guys are right, the Pile Up is the one day a year where all the***** in the world you hear about on the news or read in the paper goes away. You can sit back and relax and see friends you may only know at the show and make new ones too only see again next year.

I'm always freaked out when I meet someone that I only know via some electronic media or on the telephone. You know the type. You know them from their writing style, or a photograph of their car, or their voice. You walk up and say, "hey, are you so-and-so," or "is this your car?" Then they open their mouth and that familure voice comes out. And that happens about a hundred times at the Pile Up.

Or someone you have never met comes up and says, "hey are you Ray Gun?" Or, "are you Kevin Tully? Man, this show is AWSOME." Or, "Dude, I love your work." That freaks me out too. Around the town where I live, I'm just some guy. Nobody really. Just Joe Average Citizen. And then for a day people know who you are. It's weird, and cool at the same time. All you really think about is, "is everyone having a good time? Did we think of everything?"

I can't tell all of you how cool it is to have seven guys (actually just a couple who thought it all up) plan a show, have a bunch of people want to back you up (I'm always amazed that the Suedes drive 1,000 miles to WORK for a day), and have people ACTUALLY TELL YOU they built a car just to get into the Pile Up. Amazing.

You guys are what the show IS. WHY it exists. And WHO makes it COOL. Thanks to everyone who reads this. Really.

Well said everyone. I'm sad its all over. I just want to thank all the chrome czars, putting on a great event. The pileup just gets better and better, and this year was no exception.

This was my first year volunteering, I parked cars outside. It was work, but well worth it. The Czars know how to treat the help. Thanks so much for the :

    parking spot
    free t shirt
    free sicker
    free thermometer
free doughnuts, coffee, other goodies in the morning
free drink vouchers @ Fools (wish I would have been there)

The whole weekend was class act, and i was honored to be part of it.

Thanks guys, I'll be back to park cars next year!

Here's a funny thing... for 6 years running now I've run into at least one person on Post-Pileup Sunday that drove X hours to see the show... but is ready to argue with me that it was a sunday show, not Saturday. This year was no exception!

    You guys rocked!

  15. errr.... you are going to get me in trouble. We don't give out drink vouchers. That was just a couple for lindross and the guys who babysat Lindsey for me all weekend so I could do my thing and also for keeping Michelle and I in A/C at the Drags.

Joe, we tried to keep the noise and rubber smoke to a minimum (at least on our end of the parking lot) after we talked, but theres only so much 5 drunk rednecks and a crazy mexican******** can do. hope your ol' lady is feelin' better.

My brother and I drove my fresh 27 T from Monticello, Minnesota to attend the pileup for the first time this year. My car now has just over 1000 miles on it and all but 25 of them are from driving to the pileup. It was the T's maiden voyage and won't be the last time to the pileup. We will bring more friends and cars next year.

I talked to the guy with the 36 for quite a while and he said it was the first time it had been out from the "farm" in 20 years. He got it re-licensed and current insurance just for the show. Super nice guy. He seemed blown away by the response from the car. It had my attention longer than any other car there. Thanks for the great show guys. Best vacation I've had in a while.

I could add that Shoebox Mags got to the Fools on Saturday night and discovered that the bracelet that her mom JUST GOT HER for her birthday this year went missing. Check the bar, no. Check the street, no. Check the jackets, no. Check the '36, no. Check the hotel room, no. (Yes Chad, I checked the cuffs of my jeans. :) ) Checked the house when we got home, no. *****s.
