    Hey everyone,

A lot of you are probably sitting in your chairs right now and saying "What the......" !?!?!?

First off let me just say that this letter you are about to read was written from not only myself, but the rest of the Shifters, and Tom Ingram.

The title of this thread is correct. You have read this right.

Last week, with the help of Ernest McIntyre from Gasser magazine,we had multiple long conversations with each other, and realized that relocating the car show and ending everything after ten long years wasn't the answer.

We sincerely apologize for jumping the gun and announcing that we were pulling out last month, and we hope we havent caused any inconveniences, but at the time it seemed like the only logical thing to do.

For those that have attended VLV and brought cars out im sure you realized that the car show had lost some of it's spark in the last few
years. Well we did to, but we felt our hands were tied and thats why we
were going to move the show ,to try and make it better.

Maybe there was a little stubborness on both sides at first but now
we've gotten together and figured out how to make this show great
again. In fact it will actually be better than ever! We don't want to
give away all of the special details but trust us, you wont want to miss
    this year!

We'd also like to publicly apologize to Tom Ingram for some of the things that were said in prior posts. Not to make excuses but it was truly due to our frustrations/aggravations.Deep inside Mr Ingram is actually a really good guy who knows his stuff about traditional music,is a professional business man,and in the end wants the same results as we do.

A couple of things we can tell you we're working on is getting the
car show back on the top parking lot again. Its not 100% final, but the Gold Coast & Mr. Ingram are looking at getting the proper permits. I know A LOT of you would be excited to have that return.

    *SAFETY*
The car show will be open to the public every day at 8:00 a.m. but close every night at 8:00 p.m. This will allow 12 hours of enjoyment, partying, checking out cars, reuniting with old friends, making new friends, etc, etc. This will also help for the safety of cars as well as people !

    *Also*
We will be putting a HUGE emphasis on the quality of cars from now on! As a lot of you know, there have been a large portion of "different" cars allowed in the show over the last few years , and we truly feel that these cars have made a mockery out of what we're all into, Which is hard core, traditional Hot Rods, Kustoms, and classics! We're here to tell you right now that it
isn't going to fly anymore! No offense to the people with their "theme
cars", volksrods, cartoon mobiles, and fenderless jeeps but we dont
want them at this show anymore. We respect your workmanship but it's
just not what the show is about, and you will be turned away at the gate -
regardless if you pre registered or not! That said, unupholstered & primered traditional Rods & Kustoms are more than welcome.

    *IMPORTANT*
The entire staff welcome's everyone, however, thugs, punks, and gangs who come to start trouble with innocent show attendee's will be dealt with swiftly by security & LVPD ,and will be escorted off the GC grounds.
We're taking every precautionary measure to deal with party crashing jerks, so rest assured your car will be safe! No ,
we don't want a squeaky clean "nifty fifties" show, but we also don't
want a big tough guy contest either.

    *LIVE ENTERTAINMENT*
Yep, Live bands will be returning to the car show once again! As a show promoter myself, i guarantee to bring you the best in Rockabilly,Surf,
R & B,and Rock&Roll bands from all over the nation!

Our goal is to make this show even better than it once was and for it
to eventually become one of the best traditional Rod and Kustom shows
in the world again. We'd like to thank ALL of you who supported us over
the years and we promise to never let you down again, and to give you
    the best show possible!

If you have any questions or you want to send a picture
to make sure your car qualifies for the show please feel free to
email us on myspace at SHIFTERS CAR CLUB SO CAL or
Shifters32@pacbell.net Remember this is a 1962 and earlier event.
    That means no 63's 64's 65's 66's 67's 68's 69's or even 70's. Thanks!

Again, we hope we havent incovenienced anyone and we truly hope you all understand. After all, we're only human. We truly believe this is going to make for a better show.

Thank you Ernest McIntyre ~ Our new hero !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Best Regards,
    Shifters Hot Rod club
    So. Cal.

Does this mean Barris will be driving a Tercel?

one of the best things about the viva las vegas show was Nacho's giant tiki bar. Is that being welcomed back too? that and making the cars invitational and also losing the assholes would be great.

    optimistically excited.

As far as hotel rooms are concerened, if you call the Rio,Orleans,Palms,or Gold Coast and mention the VLV Rockabilly weekender they will honor a discount.

And yes, i have talked to everyone and the Giant Tiki,Nacho, the Swanx, and Road Zombies are all wanted !

    THANK THE ROD GODS!

    VLV 2008, YEAH!

A divorce between Axle and Tom didn’t feel right and it didn’t make sense. They’d both invested 10 years building up the world’s #1 rockabilly and nostalgia hot rod event.

When I was younger, my attitude was, “Screw it, I’m out of here.” I left more than one great relationship in hopes of finding perfection in the next one. It took me years to realize that sticking with the one I was with and fixing the issues through honest communication was the way to go. I’m still a dick at times, but maybe that’s a guy thing.

Bitching about what is wrong is never makes you feel great. Fixing what is wrong does. Axle and Tom quit bitching and fixed their issues by apologizing and going forward. Anyone who doesn’t get that is headed towards relationship hell in their own life.

I remember getting in fights with guys I hated in grade school and the next day becoming their best friend. My mom never understood it, my dad did. Must be another guy thing.

Moving the show back to the deck works for me if Axle and Tom can make it happen. There are less parking spaces but less is sometimes more. Axle knows his rods and keeping out non-compliant cars works for me. There a lot of other events they can attend that will welcome them. VLV isn’t for everyone. If it’s for you, I’ll see you there in April.

My thanks to Axle and Tom for having the balls to apologize and go forward. Must be a guy thing.

    Ernest

  21. Axle,

You know you have my and the Lonely Knights support ! Glad you guys got it worked out to everyones satisfaction. Changes sound good too, top of parking garage, quality control, live bands.....all going the right direction.

Glad I didn't cancel my Gold Coast room now. Also, bringing a new ride this year so don't look for your favorite Green Deuce.

    Johnnie.

Is the car show separate or do I have to pay $125.00 if I just show up to go in the car show? (as a spectator)

  23. Unless something has drastically changed, spectators always came in for free. At least for the last 10 years. The last couple of years though you had to have event access (wristband) to bring in a car.

Spectators always get in for free. Las Vegans love it. That's why there's 10,000 of them on Saturday. If they want to hear the best rockabilly bands in the world or show their rod, they've got to buy a wristband. Works for me. Keeps the cheap A-holes at home and glued to the tube watching the rest of us have a great time. Love your "The best way to die....Is to live." Ain't that the truth?

Good to hear. I went last year and in 97 or 98 I think and loved both times. Even with all the lame theme cars last year and the rumble  I still had a rad time. Viva Los Viva Las Vegas!
