65 fury moredoor.....the golden turd

its ugly, its a 65 but its my new daily...something i can fix and legally drive my kids around in [unlike the last 2 years of strappin them in one bucket seat in my work van! ]
so my ????for you is.....is there any possilbe way to deturdify one of these>>???if so, i sure cant see it! so any help makin her more non turdlike would be swell..

Seriously tho, a friend of mine has a 67 or so daily, just put some astros and skinny whites on it and lowered it...it actually looks really cool. His is a 4 dr htp, but still, I think the same effect would be had.

 

Maybe lower it a bit.....change the wheels....
maybe some Supremes w/whitewalls.....
or some stock wheels painted black w/crome spider caps.....
some Bellflower pipes.....

also, anyone know bout the old 318 polys???i mean, this ****in motor looks huge compared to any 318 ive owned...are they bigger?

 

I've had a '66 since I was 15, but mine is a 'vert, so the de-turdifiying took less. You can adjust front suspension height with the torsion bars pretty easily, so stance isn't too bad an adjustment. Air shocks in the rear is the poor man's solution there. The 318 poly is a solid motor and has decent bottom end torque. Single 4 barrel intakes for it go for $300+ on the 'bay, so either stick with the 2 BBL or go for the tripower. Shaving rear doorhandles is always a decent way to smooth a 4DR, but you have to be planning on priming or painting it to make it look right. For cooler taillights, look for '65 or '66 Fury III , Sport or VIP models. You can also swap on a '66 grille if you want, but I personally think the '65 grille is better looking.

 

I like the 65 fury's - I had a 65 fury wagon for a while that I really liked. Your's does need some help though. I'd go for the old cop car look - get some 15x7 severe duty rims with the dogdish caps, some spotlights, maybe paint the body and roof in contrasting colors, cop style push bar on the front bumper, and drop the front by crankin down the tortion tubes a bit.

Just ran it through the deturdalizer and came up with this. Any early, to mid sixties cars look good with this look. Paint it black and it´ll hide the four-dooryness a bit more also.

 

That is probaly a 318 wide block. Looks good in the photoshop version I think. Would look cool as stated before in police trim also.

A little info on the wide block, BBC site oddly enough.

 

Its a freakin four door family car, you cant get rid of the turdyness. Just drive it as is, unless of course the brakes still dont work...not bad for a turd though.

Actually for a two too many door it looks pretty good in the photoshop job. I'd lace paint the roof and the side middle panels to give it a longer look and detract the eye from the extra doors in the rear. Or listen to surfacedoctor... he seems to have his finger on the pulse of what's hip with the younger set these days.

Or just leave it stone stock, drive it and fix the Chevy of yours (said the man with a '62 Rambler wagon in his driveway for the past 6 years. D'OH!)

yeah, i need to get off my *** and get to work on the chevy, but im still very slowly gettin parts round up for it...and in the middle of the coupe build as well....other then the fact i have no money, skills, *** life, im really close to havin them all done! well, besides, the coupe, the 53, the 70 amx, and now this golden turd...other then those.....my mower works! just needs blades tires, battery, seat, deck and axles!

 

Staying with this theme,,,black out all the chrome around the windows to clean it up a bit more,,,I would do it but I'm inept with photo shop! HRP

Nice turd for being a turd...if I had to have a turd that would be close to the turd I would want....? Do all the stuff mentioned above and put a Max wedge or a Hemi in it but don't spend any out of pocket cash and you will be golden........

they are great for dailys, i can fit 6 people comfortably and 8 in a pinch. and the lace paint sounds like a cool idea.
