I posted a tiny bit about the Tudor I'm building in the Introductions Forum, but really, who's reading that thing anyway?? Anyway, I'm building a Tudor. Chopped, channeled, z'd. I'm running a '52 Buick 263 Straight-8 with four Holley's on a custom intake setup. ('42 Dual carb manifold with a pair of Vintage Speed 2x1 manifolds..) T5 transmission, courtesy of an adapter from Bendtsens. Frankland Quick-Change rear. ARP air-ride (sorry purists, I'll pass on getting high-centered pulling into Sonic..) Progress is sort of slow right now as I'm building another car (and three choppers) at the moment, but my goal is Paso next year, so maybe... Enjoy- Cheers, Johnny BTW, anybody know if there are any good "Traditional" clubs in North Florida? I'm talking old-school club, not pot luck dinner and folding chairs. (Cool if that's your thing, it's just not me...)
It wouldn't be off a tractor would it?? As for the air ride, I asked as it wasn't listed. My fault. Any pics of it aired up, or is it not functional yet?
Blurrier pics would help make it TOTALLY impossible! Going through the haze I'd guess Franklin Air Cooled.
great lookin' ride, Johnny! You have done an awesome job of putting this combination of parts together! love the Buick straight 8.
nice job so far. where in jacksonville. im down there all the time for work. always end up staying by rt 10 and lane ave
Nice ride ! I'm really diggin the straight 8 ! Very original, I bet you'd hard pressed to find another at any show !! I can't wait to see this one finished. Todd
Negative, not off a tractor, although there *are* some cool ones out there. The air ride was listed in my original post, even made a joke about it and all.. You must have been distracted by my spectacular photos. The air ride stuff is not installed yet. I am (sadly) a long way from that point. JJ
I like low cars, but like to drive 'em too.. the air ride lets me slam the car for low speed cruising or air it up for more clearance and a better ride. Plus it's just cool. JJ
Good guess, but wrong. Sorry about the pics, I usually just use my scratched and smeary cell phone to snap a quick pic. Me too, thought it would be done by now but you know how that goes.. I was making good progress until this side thing I'm involved in (subframes to put LSx motors in Miatas) took off. The Tudor has been pushed to the back burner for a while. Too long actually. I'm going to get back on it soon. BTW, I'm a Riviera guy too! Had a '65 (so beautiful), a '67 (badass) and a '69 (bloated). The '67 was my favorite by far. The 60's Rivieras are such great cars. JJ
Yeeaah boy! Westside is the bestside! You stay about 10 minutes from my shop. Holla next time you're headed down! Incedentally, I grew up in Jersey, so it'll be like Old Home Week. Johnny
where is the shop i have driven around most of the area. i lived there from january till may this year
Good to see another J-ville guy.... Hell I been meaning to "run into" slag for some time and just havent had the time... Johnny, as far as trad clubs round these parts...not do much, there are alot of cool rides BUT alot of em are fair weather lawn chair I-dots. Me and a small group of guys cruise to alot of the events though we are an eclectic bunch, (me a chopped cusom 49 chev truck on air, my boy jon in a 65 period peice ford truck, and another one of my boys in a 69 ford truck...) That said, drop me your phone #, I'll give ya a ring...plus I wanna stop by and inspect that "heap" in person If that isnt a blanket over generalization I dont know what is...look around, the air aint just in FL....I guess there's lotsa redneck crapola running around
It's sort of an underground thing.. a 2 acre compound in the woods with the shop, a wood shop, storage garage, paint booth, office and a gym. You would drive past the driveway a thousand times and have no idea what was down that little road.. JJ
Yup another highly profound statement from a intelligent guy that only has statments like, "Awesome ride" and "MG=Mostly garbage" as well as bashin nosebleed stances in one post and then bashing lowered cars in the next... FNG's these days sheesh...
uhh.. how about you guys with the piss pour attitudes go cramb your heads back up your asses. who gives a fuck what he does with his car. when you start helping fund it you can have somthing to say about it. as i recall , the guys that built traditional rods an customs back when they were just that, had fucking manners. if you dont have anything postivie to say shut your damn mouth. Nice ride Johnny, keep up the hard work!
Amen. Teh Interwebs is a funny thing.. People who would never step up in person and talk shit are all sorts of vocal on line. It's like one of those overcompensation things or something. I don't really sweat the haters, I'm too busy for all that. To quote the wise old sage Sublime, "fuck the naysayers cause they don't mean a thing, this is the style we bring. Word. J.
Well,at least he admits to being a "Professional Imbecile".LMAO,check his profile,FNG should engage brain, before engaging mouth.
mouth engaged, brain disengaged, researching and reading faster than you?? it all works out in the end. never said the cars wasn't cool. the engine demonstrates a lot of work and time, and the stance may even come out well. But why bag an open wheel car, especially one with so many mixed up styles? it starts to look like a cobb salad of periods. Dodgerodder pulled it off very well, he went with a killer 60's show car attitude bags, candy paint and the works. but how is this car lending it self to any style at all? frankly it looks like it has an identity crisis. maybe the redneck comment was out of line, but didn't that Spadicinni thing come out of florida? and isn't OSR based out of florida?
Didn't know you had to have a 'certain' Period perfect car or YOUR sense of style to be in the Kool Guy Clique!! Maybe you should go and polish your trophies for Period Perfect Car and let this dude build. I'm glad he isn't building this car for YOU cuz he would have to re-build the whole damn thing since YOU don't like it! Carry On
