yeah this looks like fun.. bring this thing to southern california for sure.. only thing i can see as a problem would be a looooonngggg *** wait time to run your car at the track... i think alot of people out here would be down for it!!.. I've never been to a GG's event.. but I just might go now!! ;)

I think I proved it. :D I made a best run 23.3 in my old truck. It was good enough for 2nd place in Street Rod (Pre '54). I had a blast driving, riding with my buddy in his '55 Chevy and Stacy from Detroit Speed & Engineering in their '69 Camaro, and also watching other people. I think the auto cross was a hit!

Isn't she AWESOME! That chick not only knows how to drive but knows anything and everything regarding suspension, cooling, you name it. The smartest hot rod girl I know period.

Yeah, she's a great driver. I got a little 19.9 second ride in the Camaro, she had gone a best of 19.5 when I rode with her. There were a few of us that really liked her, cough hot_rod_artist cough. :D

Sounds like the track was about 3 times larger then the one in Chicago.
I'll make sure I inform "cough" hot-rod-artist, "cough" that she is happily married.;) AND will let her know though that she has a TX fan club :D

It was the longest one yet if I remember right. He noticed the ring she had and I talked to her husband about the ride. :D She definately has a fan club in Texas. I heard about those cookies you make too. :D

Oh man, you got to ride with Stacy? She was this Goodguys' Woman of the Year this year, and she deserves it. She is usually the 2nd or 3rd fastest driver each weekend. She definitely knows how to drive that car! Her and her husband, Kyle, are some of the nicest poeple you'll ever meet, and they both know a ****load about cars and performance.

Denise: Yeah, the course was the longest one Goodguys has done yet.

I talked to the event director last Wednesday about it. The ball has started rolling on the idea. We even looked at the fairgrounds layout to find a home for it. It may just happen, although it wouldn't be until next season because of planning and stuff.

  10. that gives me time to get the suspension on the TD sorted out :D

Yes I did! It was awesome. I think you were taking pictures while I was riding along too. :D If I would have known that she was Woman of the Year and I had seen my Gazette before we left for Texas, I would have asked her for her autograph. I also got a free t-shirt from her. :D

You need to tell the higher up's, that the longer tracks are better. :D

hey man....thats a real **** head thing to do....bring in a "PRIVATE MESSAGE" out of your bag! theres a reason they call them that man! you dont like what he's sayin???fine! keep the pm's to yourself.. i know your just askin a simple question...and kenny gave you his opinion.....and folks can say whatever they want here! but, in all fairness, you draggin a private conversation out to prove a point was stupid! i dont give a **** what you think of me and my opinion~! thats all it is , is an opinion! but i just think that is a very low blow to drag out personal talks to make a point!
and yeah, kenny is a friend of mine. but that doesnt make any difference...id still give him **** if i had to!;) . but you bandwagon folks are unreal! like ive heard from alot of 'old school hambers"/ bring this up 5 years ago and your *** would get handed to ya!
no matter, im off in the AM to the pileup! no billet to search for there!:D
and kirk, im glad for your new gig man! i dont mean for you to think i dont care...i hate it when someone trys to better themselfs here and gets called a sell out! and that happens! {ask skatch} so dont think it's all personal! just thinks it childish to bring in personal info that wasnt suppossed to be!

oprahs on so ill shut up now!!!

From a haulin *** around the track perspective its probably not as exciting,
but kinda cool with the "parking space" section.
Still if your GG thing gets outta hand insurance or safety wise,
    its a good fallback option.

What was the reason they stopped it though way back then?

My guess would be that more and more guys didn't want to actually use their cars as they became more and more expensive. The pendulum sure is swinging the other way now though, thankfully.

Looks like fun but I'd rather spend my time motoring down the highway seeing how far I can go on 53 gallons of gas before I have to stop.

I ain't no trailer queen and I quit compe***ive motorsports over 30 years ago. If I'm going to shell out big bucks to fill my tank, I want to make it pay. i.e getting me from point A to point B, not around in circles trying to impress the rest of the crowd.

    YMMV

your missing the point I still feel like I owe kirk money.
cause I wasent trying to impress the crowd.
I was having fun in my hot rod. you should have driven through it one time slow, then you would have wanted to go a little faster the next run. and then your hooked!:)

anyone in Charlotte going to do this? I would love to ride along and film it!

actually - would like to film it from inside - then get another shot of someone doing the course again with me on the sidelines filming!

Email me or come by and see me at the show - I will be selling the Rat Fink merchandise

    later

Exactly! Once you do it, you're hooked for the weekend. It's a blast. The excuse of my car wouldn't handle good enough won't work. My big ol' Ford truck with stock suspension and brakes managed to get 2nd place in street rod. The were plenty of cars that could have showed me up, but it was all about having fun and driving your car/truck like they're supposed to be, hard! :D Just try it once.
