Cardboard and glue. Somehow makes me think of a friend of my Dad's somewhere around Cranfills Gap that has sheetmetal cutouts of cars painted to look like pasture rods, rusting away on his land...and goes out on the road with rollers and paints tire marks on the pavement...
Florida? I'm not from here, I just live here...cardboard guy is Italian, I think...and Cranfills Gap...that's not TOO far from Temple, TX.
With all that effort you might as well spend the time and build the real thing. Folk art I guess. -stick
I think it looks great. Ought to be on display somewhere. Looks like a lot of detail went into it. I know if I was a kid, I'd LOVE to have that to play in. Do you have a link on who built it? I wonder what the rest of the story is?
LOTS of talent there. Wasted talent? Well, you could spray 'glass on the cardboard to make it useable for a body. No? Or better yet use the pieces for templates for metal-forming! Still... impressive. I hope he's got fire and water insurance!

Pretty darn impressive cardboard work, but not sure I would do somethnig like that myself, even if I could. I have a hard time cutting up boxes for the recycling. I tend to really not like the wooden and popsickle stick versions of real stuff, but have to admit though on this one, whoever did it has taken cardboard to a whole nother level. The detail and accuracy is pretty tight for cardboard. Best part for me is I like the sticker on the tire. I wonder how much hp that things kicks out. It is better than a lot of rat rods I have seen and probably more powerful too - definitely safer.
