Personally, I like it. It looks like a well built car.

    Enjoy it!

    Thanx Section 8

Those colors were my isolated reaction to just personally being sick to death of the sight of the thing being matt black and looking permanently dirty about 5 years ago, and this was about as far as I could go in the opposite direction! Plus I taught myself how to do a silver flake roof ,from......a mainstream rod magazine.

But the story made Gene Winfield laugh when I met him at the Mooneyes show here last year:eek: ...real nice bloke.

hey, whats up up with all the so called hot rod experts posting shit about my temporary paint Job?I thought building cars was a persons form of expression? I took the car to a show last weekend and every person 60 and up loved it and said that it looks right out of the day!you know the guys that really lived this shit! so whats the deal, should I paint with black primer or gray so when I go to a show I can look like every one else there? fuck that and fuck all the patina experts! like I said in the intro the pic's look like shit and not like the car in person. so I guess what I'm saying is if you don't have anything cool to say post your shit on the vw or volvo guys post!

dont post on a TRADITIONAL board if you want a rat rodders opinion... im sure OSR board members wuold LOVE the car as is...

we build trad cars, as people WANTED them.. im sure one or two people drove around in primer and all, but everyone WANTED nice paint, noone went OUT OF THEIR way to make it look "old" and fake... this is the issue... you took all that time to paint it like tihs, which could have been spent on a nice paint job... old people dont always have the best taste, they LOVE rat rods right now, think of that for a while

prehaps the HAMB isnt the best place for you to ask an opinion on this...

The thing is that you're wrong to think that the car looks "just like they did back in the day"

They had paint on them back in the day. But after sitting in a junk pile, the paint wears off.

The reason people like cars that truely have their paint worn off is because they want to see the history of the car.

However, just faking history looks silly. If you've really found the real deal Barney Navarro car, people would want to see how your found it.

But you can still build a car "the way it was back in the day" with paint and people are going to like it.

I would respect some of the car veterans on this board who have been building cars and have an eye for the art, more than I would respect some people walking by at the burger drive through who say, "Wow! Neat old car. I love Model Ts!!!"

Your car is VERY VERY nice!! It's done in all the right ways. You should be proud of the history you are beginning with the car rather than faking someone elses history .... put some paint on it.

    You obviously ignored my comment.

What I had to say was, in fact, very cool.

My truck has some "fake"? patina.....kinda.....there was quite a bit of oil and tar on it from a trip over the summer that I used a scotch-bright to clean it off. In the process I wore through some of the paint (cheap, thin paint). In order to get it to look 'even', I went over the entire truck with the pad. I like it. But then, the body of my truck isn't that great to begin with....and it's meant to look as a if it just left a warzone......THEME rod, I guess....

  20. A lot of guys over 60 have fading eyesight.

There must be a market for fake patina, just as the big box home improvement stores sell lots of inexpensive stamped sheet metal door knobs and locksets with those really authentic-looking antique bronze and antique brass finishes on them.
