The coolest COE I've ever seen was in the 1943(!!) bat man movie serial ," Lured by Radium" made in 1943. it was a '40 Chev COE armoured car. 'The Bat man ' climbs on the roof and blows a hole through with a 'radium gun'. ( hey, this was 1943 and the nuke was still being built..:D ) he then climbs over the front while the truck is flat out ..at 40mph and gets in the passenger window to start a fight with the driver. The truck goes over a cliff overlooking LA.

This was made before batman came out of the closet and had a real girl friend ( Miss California, 1940) ,not a 'robin' and racism was a thing of the future :D:D
Quite a good series of movies and better than most that came after it.

Got started a little earlier than I had planned. Sure looks short, but it's set-up for an 8 ft box.

Can someone tell what year and model these trucks are. I love these things. They are so Batman Gotham city looking.

I wouldn't mind one for a designated car hauler some year... maybe if I found one up here I'd get more motivated about it...:D

watched this one being built, They used a panel for the extention and the backend of a 5-window. It's been sold a few times but it's still in the Edmonton area so, Fishtail8, it would make a great start to a car hauler:cool: [IMG]

I might have seen that one around El Gordo... It didn't get built out in the Fort or by Gibbons did it?

It was built here in St. Albert by "Todds Rods" (Fountain Tire - check out his car show on Thursday of RocknAugust )
The story I heard is that it was first sold to a guy in LA then it was bought by a guy who owns a trucking co. near the fort-in-view golf course in Fort Saskatchewan. That guy had it for sale in his trucking yard, not sure if he still has it.....Todd would know

Sour Kraut, the one Stick shift posted a pic of is not a C series Cab over (1936-early 1937) its a D series (1937-1940) do to the shape of the cab, the C series cab overs are alittle more boxy then the rounder D, its a D-300 or DS-300 the smaller of the COE's, the D-400 and larger COE's have taller cab then the D-300's.
