I have a 46 chevy 1/2 ton made into rat rod truck with the stock 6 lug hubs on front. My buddy has a 50 chevy 1/2 ton with 5 lugs that he is putting GM sub frame under. Heres the question. His 50 has a front disc brake conversion. Will it fit my 46 front axel? I don't have the two side by side yet becuase he hasn't got it cut off. I don't want to drag it home if if don't fit anyway. I have a camaro rear, so it would be nice to have them match. Thanks for any help here
Rat rod is not a term that is liked on this forum. They are sometimes built in an unsafe manner and they bring the hobby down. Traditional hot rods and customs are the vehicles for this forum. Do you have a picture of your truck?
I have pics on our lap top but wife is out of town with it so not tonight. I know the whole rat rod v traditional thing just trying to get a point across for the more important question about the axles
Thanks for your reply and not patronizing my choice of words. Thats what I was looking for . Just don't need more crap around the shop to trip over if it didn't work.
My Hollander says the 46-50 1/2 ton spindles will interchange so just put his spindles on your axle and you're done.
Thanks for your responses. I got this half done project from someone else and just trying to make it better. I love everyones opinion here, Its fun to see how left and right everyone can be and still have one common hobby.
Hey part of the HAMB is sorting thru the bs so to speak Pick the answer ya want n ignore the rest they aint gonna come over n drink beer n help ya anyway go for it Ken
If we all stop and think about the true history of hotrods, and look back at them from the beginning . One could truely say they were Rat Rods of sorts. Quote (They are sometimes built in a unsafe manner) 99% of the time they are safe. Only a fool would go flying down the road in something that could injure himself his family or others.. So to say that Rat Rods are unsafe isnt fair to a different style in the hot rod faimly tree.
