The original Plymouth cars, Sox & Martin,Leal,Golden Commandos,The Missle, Lee Smith, and Pee Wee Wallace (the Virginian). The only original Dodge of the group that's not shown (so far) is Bill Flynn's "Yankee Peddler", which was also the only sedan of the bunch. All of the rest, including my family's AWB car, were home brewed.
The car said "New England Area Dodge Dealers" on it. We raced with and against Flynn over the years back in the '60's and '70's. But the factory was really doing the deal. Unfortunatly Bill passed on a few years ago, but there are some guys out there who still know the story. (I'm not claiming to be one of them!)
The Golden Commandos had 2 the mule car that was built and was the subject of the Tech Report.Destroyed after it raced at BeeLine. And the stock 2% car they also raced at Beeline got converted to a altered wheelbase car after BeeLine. The attached is the mule that got destroyed after.
Yeah, I know most of them were backyard cars. The "Black Arrow" which my brother bought from Doc in '67, was built by a blacksmith in Pawling, N.Y. It had a 100" wheelbase when they were moved forward, and it would drive straight down the track like it came from the factory that way. It also had a 2% wheelbase option, but I don't think it was ever used. If you can post 'em for me, I'll send you pictures of it from when we bought it to our convesrsion into a super stocker again. The original unit body was sent to the crusher in the early seventies.
that david guy must have a little bit a money to be buying all those trademarks... plus the "only" remaining survivor.... what a tool
Hayden ran a Mercury Comet in '65. He had more factory deals thean just about anybody. He even had a deal with AMC later on...
Send them to me and I'll see what I can do. I'm good friends with Bill Stiles who was involved with Doc and the car. It's a shame this car went to the crusher. Send them to troublemaker427@netzero.com.
Somewhere...I have pictures of the "High and Mighty" at the Nationals in Detroit, 1959. Funny exhaust sticking out from under the fenders. Top dragster was Singer and Miller, if I remember.
here's videos from 1959 nats. http://positiveapeindex.blogspot.com/2006/09/ingenuity-in-action.html been posted before but i was searching around for high and mighty and came across it. you can see it in the 3rd video
I think the Storm King version looks way better! The arrow on the Black Arrow makes the wheel opening to obvious.
