North GA crew winter get togethers...?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Stevie G, Nov 4, 2007.

  1. I always liked hangin' out at PBRmeASAP's garage, drinkin' beer, bench racin' and pissin' in the bushes. You could go there...

I'm sure whoever lives there now won't mind. :D

Just talked to Dave, Saturday afternoons/evenings or Sunday mornings seem to look better.
    How about...
Sunday 12/9 at the Country Skillet in Roswell for breakfast?

The reason we are suggesting making it the same place is cosistancy. we can always go to someone house or what ever later. Just a meeting place.

The guy's in Charleston do this and it works out good. everyone knows where to go. there is never any confusion and then they decide who's house to goto next. Other wise you have 3 page threads or 15 phone calls to figure thigs out. They just figure it out while they eat.

kinda of the "same bat time, same bat channel" Theory.

ahhhh, I see, says the blind man. That makes sense. That Country Skillet has really greasy breakfast, how are me and Dave supposed to maintain our hour-gl*** figures?

Not a thing, just gotta make sure where ever we go afterwards has a decent bathroom and some mid grade toilet paper. Damn computers cant show the smile on my face and my mouth watering thinking about cheese eggs and deep fried bacon...

Skillet sounds good to me. It was called the Iron Skillet in the80's, I have not been there in a long time.

The thing thats better about a breakfast or lunch deal is we can all meet up, then head over to someones shop afterwords and maybee get some work done on a project. Or at least drink beer with less worries.

I think we have 2 conversations going on here. There is the second sat of Dec which most people are going to see Hot rod walt. And Brett (GMB) are trying to setup a regular meeting to get some people together and maybe fix a car or two afterwords. Or maybe go for ride into the mountains. Hell I like the pink pony on a sunday afternoon. (We used to call it going to church)

Now I'm really confused. So there are folks going to eat saturday afternoon/evening. There are folks going to see Hot Rod Walt. And then there's a sunday brunch thing. Did I miss anything or did I catch it all? I didn't know meet and greets were so confusing.

Good lord! How the hell did you kids ever pick teams in grade school? Hell, how did you decide what damn game you were going to play at recess?

My suggestion: Forget the short-term show that's coming up, as far as this conversation is concerned. That's a one-day deal. Go if you want, or don't, doesn't matter.
Let's figure out a single place to meet for breakfast, starting the 2nd Saturday in December. Twice a month would be nice, but there's ALWAYS something that will come up for someone...seems most folks can commit to something regular once a month...swap meet comes to mind, but so does a poker game, date night with the wife, etc.
I'd say do it in the morning...almost like "oh ****, why did I commit to this" early. Say 8 or 9am at the latest. That gives us an hour and a half or two hours to eat, ********, and make a plan. And then we can go for a drive in our rods, go junk yard crawling, go to someone's shop, etc. Remember, only pull-a-part is open on Sunday, but all the other good spots are Saturday only, and many of them close at noon.
This won't conflict with Church, early in the day won't usually conflict with Little League and kid's schedules, we can get some **** done, and then get on with our weekend.

Now, that being said, where would everyone like to meet for breakfast? It's gotta be the same place every time...Looking at Stevie's map, I'm wondering if we can find someplace farther away for Josh and me than Roswell? Alabama, maybe? :) And Stevie is supposed to be moving out toward Athens pretty soon, so that'll be three of us that are hiking about an hour 20 to Roswell...
Plus Mack The Yankee lives up here in Winder.
It doesn't have to be up here, but maybe something somewhere on the 285 loop? 75 and 85 towards down town? There's gotta be some decent diner or something between 85/285 and Marietta.

Oh, and if we do a "Pink Pony" thing, we're gonna do it right like those guys up in Ohio and do a "Beer, ****s and Hot Rods"!!!!

Brad. Saturday mornings will not work for for Brett. We are looking at sunday mornings. I'm up for where ever. but we have 3 people not including old car pilot who live in marietta, about 45 minutes away from roswell. you, josh and Stevie are also bout 45 minute away from roswell in the opposite direction. we also have people in ***ming which is up north about 30 mins. Roswell is in the middle and there is a really cool little redneck resturant there. I'm up for different place if that's what the groups wants to do. I just want to make sure if we pick a different place it also has room for several cars in the parking lot and can put tables together to seat more than a waffle house booth.

I am open for other ideas, but this one seems pretty central to me.

This is a perfect example of why we need a regular schedule and meet at the same time everytime. :)
